I feel like I have been in Utrecht a lot the past couple of months, but that’s not actually the case. Maybe it feels like that because I really like this city. When I was in Utrecht to visit a Master’s Day, I first went to this hotspot, called Croquetten Boutique. 🍴 I enjoyed my food so much, that when Eline and I were in Utrecht for Creative Life, we went there again. This time I decided to take some photos and share this cute spot on here!
CROQUETTEN BOUTIQUE | Bakkerstraat 7, Utrecht
If you aren’t Dutch, you might think: What the heck is this hotspot? Well, ‘kroketten’ or croquettes are a typical Dutch food. There are a lot of different croquettes available all over The Netherlands (with meat, fish or vegetables). At Croquetten Boutique very unique croquettes are served. They have a small menu of eight different croquettes and one special croquette every single month.
The thing I like about Croquetten Boutique is that you can just have a look into their kitchen and see exactly what they are doing. All of the croquettes are made by them, freshly baked and put on a special bun garnished with different homemade sauces.
Besides the unique concept, the interior of they boutique is also very lovely and adds that something extra to the experience of visiting the boutique. The theme is a combination of dark green, gold, marble and hints of pink. Since it is a small boutique, they created this seating area along the window. Btw, did you spot this very (green) photogenic corner in the photos above?
Anyways, after some consideration (on Eline’s part) Eline got the ‘kipsaté croquet’ or chicken satay croquette and I got the ‘Hollandse garnaal & zeekraal croquet’ or Dutch shrimp and samphire croquette. I also got this croquette the last time I was there and I enjoyed it so much, I got it again. The croquettes don’t only look good (I mean, just look at all of these photos in this post), they are extremely tasty!
The croquettes Eline and I got, might sound a little basic to you. But in the photos you can also see a couple of the other croquettes, like a rhubarb & strawberry croquet or salmon & lemon pepper croquet. Next time I think I should try another croquette because they are so unique. If you can’t make a choice (trust me, it is hard), you can also get a tasting of five small croquettes or take them away and bake them at home. Curious about this hotspot?
