In this previous blog post I already explained that it is important to me to make time for my family and friends. Since graduating college, my friends and I don’t get to see each other very often. Everyone has a different schedule and sometimes that makes it hard to see each other. That’s why we decided it would be a great idea to just go away for a weekend and have a relaxing girls weekend. Of course I had to share some of it so here you go!

Our girls weekend took place in Weert, The Netherlands. I know, it’s such a random place but we just wanted a relaxing weekend in our own country. Isabella picked me up in Leiden and that’s when our road trip began. On the road to Weert we also picked up Anouk and around 4:30 PM we arrived in Weert. After we got settled in our little house, we went to the store to get food to survive the weekend.
After having dinner at our place for the weekend, we went to the smallest bowling alley I’ve ever seen in my life haha. 🎳 Despite the size of the bowling alley, it was pretty funny to bowl again. I hadn’t done it in years but I did get a strike (yay!). The rest of the night we spent in our house, sang along with throwback songs and laughed until we cried.

Saturday was a pretty slow day. We all slept in, some longer than others. So Naomi, Maja and I decided to walk around Weerterheide and just explore. As you can tell from the photos featured in this post, nature looks pretty amazing during fall. 🍂 I just love taking photos of everything and, to be honest, it was really hard to just pick a couple of photos to feature in here.
We stayed in the house for a little while before we went into the centre of Weert. I was expecting a small city centre but there were actually a lot of stores and cafes there. After having some lunch and walking around, we went back to our house and started baking pancakes, which we had for dinner. In the evening we played a gift exchange game to celebrate ‘Sinterklaas’! Most of the time we would just pick a name and buy them a gift. But I also liked playing this game because it’s more of a surprise and at some point you can somewhat decide whatever you would like to have.

On Sunday we knew we had to pack our stuff because we were leaving in the afternoon. But before that, we slept in a little bit, had breakfast and went to Weerterheide again. This time we went further into the woods and I took lots of photos there. Luckily Anouk and Maja were also taking photos so I also got a couple of photos with me actually on it haha. 📸 After we brought so much sand from Weerterheide into our house, we had to clean and pack everything up. When we did all of that, we went back to the car and around 2:00 PM started our road trip back to Leiden!
As you can tell from this blog post, it was a really relaxing weekend. To some it may sound boring but for us it was perfect to catch up with each other and relax as well. A weekend away with friends is definitely something I recommend doing! Even if it is at a random place, like ours. We already made plans for other things we want to do or maybe go to, just to make sure we see each other. Have you ever been on a weekend away like this? What would your ideal girls weekend look like?
