Abroad I Always Find Lovely Items | Latest Purchases

The title kind of says it all for this post… It is true, abroad I always find lovely items. Maybe it is the fact that you feel you’re the only one who will own that item or just because you got it from another country. Since I went to four different cities this summer holiday, I may have bought some things. Not only for myself of course but in this blog post you’ll see everything I got for myself because I don’t want to spoil what I got for my friends. They will have to wait a little longer to see what I got them… Without further ado, let’s get started and see what I purchased in Athens, London, Stockholm and Copenhagen ✈️

Before I left to go to Athens with my friends, I didn’t really know how much money to take. We all put the same amount of money together so we would have money to pay our food from. But of course I also wanted to take money for myself so I could buy souvenirs or go shopping. I didn’t think I would buy a lot in Athens and in the end I almost didn’t buy anything. The things I did buy were this very simple bracelet. We all bought a similar bracelet to remember our trip, like we did in Barcelona. Then I also bought lots of souvenirs for my family and friends at home. For myself I bought this little etui and a magnet. From everywhere I’ve been, I always buy a magnet so you’ll see lots of them in this blog post.

In London I was definitely ready to spend some more money than I did in Athens. On the first day Eline and I already went to Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus. Around here are lots of stores, from souvenir shop to an Anthropologie store. In the photo above you can see I bought some souvenirs for myself. Of course I got a magnet. It’s a very simple one that says Oxford Street. With that I also got some cards. At first I wanted to send them out to my parents and grandma but since we were only in London for four days, I decided to just keep them and give a card to them when I got home.

Besides cheesy souvenirs (which are very fun indeed), I also got some other things. In Covent Garden Eline and I got our first food at Starbucks. While we were there, I saw this Starbucks mug like the one I got in New York. To match that one, of course I just had to get this mug as well. And in Camden Town I got another London type thing. We walked along the market and I saw lots of these sweaters and since the man at the stand gave a me ‘special price’ (as he called it haha), I thought I would buy this London sweater. And on our last day we went to the M&M Store because we happened to be nearby so yes, we bought lots of M&M’s for a lot of money. But who cares? I kept mine in my room so I had a little snack while I was writing all of these blog posts.

When Eline and I were in Shoreditch, we found lots of cute stores. At one of them we both got a card. I actually got two, one of my mom and one for me. Above you can see the one that I got for myself. I just think these type of watercolor prints are really lovely to put in my room.

On to the last things I bought on the last day in London. I think they might be my favorite but I am not sure. Firstly I bought this small pink bracelet at & Other Stories. It was actually in the sale so I paid about 2 pounds for it! Another bracelet to add to my collection. Second we stumbled upon an Urban Outfitters store. Whenever I find one of them, I just have to go in even when I know they will have the same things everywhere. Anyways, this is where I got the earrings. As you might know I have two earring holes in both my ears so I like to switch up the earrings I am wearing. Lastly we went to my favorite store in the whole entire world, Anthropologie. Last year I went to an Anthropologie store for the very first time (in Georgetown) and I just fell in love with everything they sell. Unfortunately it is very expensive so we went to the sale section and that is where I found this top. The fabric is so beautiful and it was reduced from 108 pounds to 31 pounds so how could I not buy it…

I think with every trip I took this Summer, I started to shop a little more. That is definitely not a bad thing because I got lots of cute stuff but I only just realized haha. Anyways, in Stockholm I first mainly got souvenirs for my grandma and myself. Of course I had to get a magnet that says Stockholm (to add to the rest of the collection) and I also got an elk keychain. I saw this in a souvenir shop and really liked it. I don’t know why, I just did. And you guessed it correctly, I got another card! This one fits the theme of watercolored printed card perfectly so yeah.

On to the goodies I got at ABBA The Museum! In my Stockholm travel diary I already shared something about my love for ABBA music, especially Mamma Mia songs. After we had a lovely time in the museum, we entered the gift shop. They had lots of things I liked. I think I liked a lot of the goodies because they weren’t so cheesy as other museum gift shop things would be. Of course I got a card (how could I not haha) and then I saw this canvas bag. My mom and I are going to share this one because I already have too many canvas bags but since I liked this one a lot, we couldn’t just leave it there. With that I also got a button (which is so old school, right?), notebook and another keychain (btw am I the only one who really likes the light pink color with that font on everything?).

Besides ABBA The Museum we also went to Fotografiska, which is a photography museum. At this museum they also had a gift shop and after visiting the museum, I wanted to walk around here for a little bit. They always sell really nice books and things that has to do with the different exhibitions. I got two cards of my favorite photos from two exhibitions. With that I also got a card with Fotografiska on it because I really like the look of their logo. And yes, you can see it already. I may have got another canvas bag… Oops.

Lastly during my hunt for souvenirs I also wanted to go back to a T-shirt store where we had been before. Last time we were here my brother got two shirts and I saw one that I really liked but didn’t end up getting it. Since I was still thinking about it, of course I had to get it. At first I thought it was kind of weird getting a shirt that says ‘Manhattan’ on it but why not. They had lots more other prints and you’ll read more about this store in an upcoming blog post.

On our first (well actually second) day in Copenhagen, we went to see The Little Mermaid. As you can imagine it is always very busy here with lots of tourists. Around there were a couple of people selling corny souvenirs but there was also a lady selling very unique magnets and cards she made herself. To go with the rest of my watercolor card collection, I got this Real Danish pastry card. It is cute, right? Of course I also got a couple of corny souvenir at Strøget. For some people I got a keychain (because I really liked the hearts), a magnet for my grandma (and myself) and a couple other cards to give to people.

When we were at the end of our trip at the airport, we (of course) had to wait for a little while before our flight started boarding. Therefore we went to a magazine/book store to see what kind of things they had and we would like to kill time. I saw this Vogue coloring book (I guess) and things like this always give me lots of inspiration when it comes to blogging and taking photographs.

Before every trip I always make some kind of an agreement with myself that I won’t go shopping in stores we also have in The Netherlands. But I may have broken this because I saw some a sweater from outside Vero Moda that I really liked so yes, I got it. It is a fall type sweater so the fall shopping can begin. Anyways, not only in Strøget are stores to shop at, also around Strøget I found lots of concept stores. At one of those I got a triangle earring to wear in one of my earring holes and a bracelet. The bracelet is very dainty and minimalistic, which goes perfect with the rest of my bracelets, like this other bracelet from Pilgrim.

Last but definitely not least, my mom and I discovered this fabric store in the street nearby our hotel. We only discovered it on the last day and just had to go in. We walked around for a bit and that’s when I found a fabric with cacti print on it. I am not sure what I will be making from it but when I do, I will definitely be showing it on here! And that is all that I got during all of my trips. I hope you liked seeing and reading about everything I bought and I am sure, you’ll see lots of these in upcoming blog posts as well. Did you like this blog post? What is the best thing you found on a trip?

Wow! What fabulous treasures!! I always find that even the most basic of items become so much more special, just because of being found and bought in another country. They hold special connections and memories which is really something : )
