All Is Calm, All Is Bright | Christmas Dinner Table Decor

Since Christmas is my favorite holiday, of course I had to put up another Christmassy post to get spread the Christmas vibes. This year I wanted to do something different. Every year I have posted something to do with food so this year I wanted to give you some inspiration on how to lay the table for your Christmas dinner. 🎅🏻 Thanks to Poppy Deyes for inspiring me to actually put up a post like this! You should really check out her blog post because she took the most stunning photos. Anyways, enjoy this post and let’s get in the Christmas spirit!

★ Start with the basics

When setting the table for your Christmas dinner, you have to start with the basics. So what do you need for your guests to have their food? I have made a list of basics you definitely will need when setting the Christmas dinner table: cutlery (forks, knifes and spoons depending on the number of dishes you are going to be serving), glasses (for wine and water), plates (small and big ones), napkins and a tablecloth. 🍽️

★ Choose a theme

This isn’t for everyone but I like to have some kind of theme when I am setting a table. That’s just because I like to decorate things and make sure it looks put together. A Christmas dinner table isn’t complete without a pop of red and lots of sparkle. So for this post I chose to go for a lot of white (because white is always a good choice) with some red details and of course some sparkle.

★ Use whatever you have

I always forget whatever home decor things I have laying around the house. So then I just buy new stuff and a couple of weeks later I find the same items in my cupboard haha. It’s funny but it also sucks. To save money, please check your cupboard and cabinets to see what you already have and what you can use to decorate your table for Christmas dinner. Besides that, DIY is always your best friend. DIY’ing home decor is very inexpensive and you can made the most unique and fun things.

My favorite stores for home decor are…

Sissy-Boy. If there’s one store where I would want everything from, it has to be Sissy-Boy. They have anything from items for your kitchen to clothing, books and home decor (of course).

H&M Home. I don’t go to H&M often, but when I do, I always have to have a look at the home section. All of their home decor is very on-trend and inexpensive as well.

Flying Tiger. If you need small decorations, like stars I used, definitely go to Flying Tiger. Here you’ll find inexpensive, minimalistic and very cute decor, which you can also DIY with (if you are planning on doing that).

★ Get decorating

The most fun part and what this post is mainly about is here… It’s time to actually decorate! First start with the tablecloth since that’s going to be underneath all of the other things on the table. I have decided to go for a table runner since we have a round table. On that I put the plates, a water glass, a wine glass, cutlery (a fork, knife and spoon) and these cute star patterned napkins. I have always had a thing for stars so that’s why I just had to incorporate stars in the table decor as well. Then I sprinkled the stars decorations on the table and added some other decor items, like a candle, cute plates (like the Santa) and a branch of holly. On the dinner plates I added a little more holly and also a branch of a Christmas tree. 🎄 So Christmassy!

★ The food & drinks

The last step is of course to put the food and drinks on the table. On  Christmas we always start by having a drink with some snacks. So that’s what we will have displayed on the table at first. Then we will get to all of the presents and in the meantime the food for our Christmas dinner will be prepared. Since I haven’t been eating meat the past year, I also won’t be eating meat at our Christmas dinner. That’s why my mom and I have decided to think of something we wanted to have during Christmas dinner. So the table at our Christmas dinner will be a little bit fuller than normal haha. If you need any inspiration of what to make for your Christmas dinner, I would definitely recommend looking at this blog I posted last year.

And that are all of the steps you will need to create your ultimate Christmas dinner table! I can’t wait for it to be Christmas Eve and actually enjoy the Christmas dinner on a table filled with so many different dishes. If it was up to me the table would definitely look something like this to make it even more festive. Since this is the last post I put on my blog before it’s Christmas, I want to wish you a very merry Christmas! 🌟 Are you excited for Christmas? Do you also have a big Christmas dinner with your family?

Love,

Neeltje
