I can’t believe it’s almost June… Like where did time go? I still feel like it’s February or maybe even March but not almost June… Even though it’s weird it’s almost June, I definitely can’t wait for July and August because I will be traveling again and that makes me so happy. But since I like to have something to look back on what I actually did, I make these posts. This way I can share with you what went on in my life but it’s also a diary entry for me because I can look back on it. 📓 As you can tell from the title, this post is filled with taking photos by cherry blossom trees, spending time with family in Leiden, a wedding and more!
⁝ April 12, 2018 ⁝
Just when April started, we actually got some lovely spring days. This made me want to go to the beach so bad. Elba wanted to do the same so that’s when we decided we would go to Scheveningen. I hadn’t been here in a couple of years and wanted to see what De Pier looked like now it had reopened. Of course, on the day we went to Scheveningen the weather wasn’t that great but the lighting was great to take photographs so we didn’t really mind. In the end we had a lovely time walking along De Pier, the beach and spending time at The Fat Mermaid.

On Instagram I had seen that the trees in Leiden had started to blossom. If you know anything about blossom trees it is that they only blossom a couple of weeks a year. It depends on the weather when and for how long. Since last year I just missed it, Lotte and I decided to go as soon as possible to take some photographs. This day it was almost 20 °C, which made it the perfect day to go outside without a coat and look at the beautiful blossom trees. 🌸 After taking tons of photographs, we spend the rest of the afternoon on the terrace of ROOS, taste & smile with a big serving of nachos. Such a lovely spring day!

Since my grandma hadn’t been in Leiden for a long time, my mom and I decided to take her out for a day and just wander around Leiden. We went to many cute stores and I even discovered a new plant store I adore, called Fiori. Besides that, we had lunch at Logica, which is a cafe and restaurant that only serves organic food and has a lot of vegetarian and vegan options! 🌽 In the end we had a lovely relaxed family day, which I want to do more often (because family is important).

This was actually my mom’s birthday! 🎈 Of course we celebrated her birthday this day. My brother and I got her a couple of presents and I baked one of my favorite things ‘boterkoek’. My baking skills were very much appreciated because my ‘boterkoek’ was completely gone at the end of the night haha.

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it on my blog but when I was in high school, I did basketball for about a year. My brother had been doing it for a long time then and I wanted to try it as well. I was only into it for about a year because I like watching the games way better than playing myself haha. So now my family and I like to go to basketball games every once in awhile. There are playoffs right now and that’s why we went to a couple games of ZZ Leiden. The games were very close but ZZ Leiden did win them!

For Mother’s Day we actually went out for dinner a couple days before, because I had to work on Mother’s Day. We had some amazing Indonesian food (one of my faves) at Sari Djawa. And on actual Mother’s Day, so Sunday, we made a breakfast for my mom and I also decided to make a card with ‘best mom ever’ on it (in hand lettering style, just like I did in this blog post).

And on May 19 it was finally there… Harry and Meghan’s wedding day! I know not everyone might be into the Royal Family but I definitely am. I loved watching The Crown for example and watched so many documentaries about how everything work within the family. Besides that, I am a girl and girls love weddings (well, most of them), so I just made a day out of it. 👰🏻 Getting up early and watching the full day on television. I thought Meghan’s dress was stunning! Who’s with me?

In my Latest Purchases post you might have seen that I bought a couple of new plants. I know, I already own a lot but plants are so easy to change around and it gives your room already a new look. Besides that, I also exchanged my very beloved dotted duvet for a pretty minimalistic window pane duvet from Dekbed-Discounter. Before I wouldn’t have cared but the duvet is made from special Indian cotton and it’s so comfortable to sleep in. These changes are pretty small but I am still planning on painting the pink walls in my bedroom white and I actually also need a new mattress (maybe even a new bedframe), so I will finally do this during summer. Of course I will show you the end result if it is finally finished.

At the beginning of March Elba and I wanted to check out another gym together. We took a yoga class, followed a training schedule together with a trainer and decided to change to that gym. Ever since then, I have been working out about three times a week and I just can’t go without it anymore. 🏋🏻♀️ On May 25 we had our second weight in and it’s so interesting to see how your body changes. Anyways, it has become a part of my weekly routine and I definitely would like to share more about it. So if you’re interested in that, just let me know!
This kind of sums up my April & May! Not everything I did is in these type of posts (of course) but just the things I really wanted to share. Bring on June! Let’s see what the next month has to offer… What’s your favorite memory from April & May? Would you like to see more of these posts?

How nice to do a regular diary! It’s a great way to reflect and think about what you loved and what you might want to try differently next time and I need to do that more. I especially love that you came across those beautiful blooms. I saw so many on my latest trip – they make the day seem so happy! Booking my next trip to someplace really special that I have been but my husband hasn’t was my favourite memory for May. 🙂 I hope you have an amazing June.
