Hello September! Summer is almost over, which means a lot of things have and are changing. A whole new chapter is starting for me… Besides that, I’ve also been doing a lot of things this summer and, like I did last year, I wanted to share a couple of those with you. That’s why this post is kind of a combination of the past, what I’ve done this summer, and the future, what I will be doing. Enjoy!

If you know me, you would know that Mamma Mia is my absolute favorite movie. I have seen the first one about a hundred times and I could watch it even more. When I heard there would a second movie, I got so excited! So my mom and I went to a Mamma Mia Here We Go Again ladies night on the night it premiered in The Netherlands. It was a great movie and I am still listening to the music today. I have to be honest, I still like the first movie better, but I did think the second movie completed the full story so you don’t want to miss it!

I just love botanic gardens. Last year in Edinburgh Lotte and I visited a very large one but there’s also a botanical garden in Leiden. I’ve been here before but it’s just a really nice place to go, walk around and look at all plants. There’s just something relaxing about walking through a botanical garden and it’s a great place to take tons of photos. Lotte and I both love cacti and succulents, and we found a spot in Hortus Botanicus Leiden filled with them. Since I took so many photos there, I thought I would feature all of them in this blog post.

On Sunday July 29 Lotte and I got on the Thalys from Rotterdam and a little over two hours later, we arrived in Paris. Paris is such a beautiful city with tons or history and so many things to see. We spent a total of five days in Paris and I think you can say we almost saw everything there is to see. Everyday we took the metro to one part of the city and spent some time there. If you want to see everything we did, check out my Paris travel diary!

Everyone knows I love to travel. When I planned my trip to go to Paris with Lotte, my parents were also talking about going to a city. When they mentioned they wanted to go to Berlin, my little brother and I suggested we would meet them there after a couple of days and booked the trip! To Berlin we also went by train and spent a lovely four days in Berlin. Berlin is so different from Paris, so I really had to adjust but I loved seeing all of the sights again. Of course I also wrote a travel diary about this trip, so if you want to know more, you can read that here.

My mom and I have always been into Justin Timberlake’s music. A couple of years ago he came to The Netherlands for a concert and of course we went. So when I heard he was doing a tour again, and was coming to The Netherlands, I just had to get tickets! At the beginning of the year I was sitting in my living room with five or six devices to get tickets and I was so happy when I got them. So on August 24, my mom and I went all the way to Arnhem and saw Justin Timberlake in concert! We had an amazing time and are already looking forward to going to New York. Because guess what? He’ll be in New York at the exact same time we are there… So let the Justin Timberlake sighting begin!
WHAT’S NEXT?
… starting a new job as an Online Community Manager. Yes, this is really exciting! At the end of June I started looking for a new job, send out two emails, went on two job interviews and got a job offer at the beginning of July. Everything went very quick and didn’t even share a lot about it with my friends because I wanted to be sure everything worked out… And it did! I will be working four days a week because of the next thing.
… starting with my Media Design associate degree. On Fridays I will be starting with an associate degree called Media Design. After finishing my Communication studies I felt like I still wanted to keep learning and doing more with the design aspect. When I found this studies, it sounded exactly like what I wanted to do so I signed up. I am excited to see what it will be like when it starts at the end of this month. I will keep you updated on my whole work and study story…
… taking more time to relax and work on myself. Over the past year I’ve definitely learnt that’s it’s so important to always keep working on yourself. Before I always thought that was time trown away, but that’s not true. It’s really important to relax, work on yourself and just be a better person, inside and out. Something I’ve been enjoying doing is working out with Elba, going to yoga once a week and meditating at least once a day. This makes me feel less anxious and a lot more grounded.
“Expect nothing. Appreciate everything.”
It’s so weird that summer is already over and that fall is around the corner. That means the end of 2018 is coming closer and closer… But that also means I am almost going to my favorite city in the whole wide world again: New York! Time goes by way too fast I think but I am learning so much and doing so many great things, which makes it little less sad haha. How was your summer? What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Love,
Neeltje
I love Mamma Mia too! The songs are crazy catchy, and it’s still one of the favourite musicals I’ve watched! ❤️
