Five. 5. F I VE. Yes, I’ve been blogging for five years now. Wow! When I was planning out my upcoming blog posts I saw the month of April and all of a sudden remembered that it would be my blog birthday! Since it has been five years (half way to ten yay), I couldn’t just let it pass by and had to dedicate a blog post to it. So this blog post is dedicated this celebration in which I share how I got started, what I achieved in five years, my favorite blog posts I’ve posted and of course how I want to celebrate this milestone! 🎉
⊰ Dear Thoughts in Style… ⊱
Where do I even start… I still remember I was thinking of ‘cool’ names I could use for my blog. I kept writing down new ideas and asking my friends what they thought of them. I was so scared to start my blog because everyone would be able to find it. It would be on the internet where also strangers could find it. After deliberating inside for a couple of weeks, I decided to just create a blog with the name ‘Thoughts in Style’.
After creating Thoughts in Style, I started thinking of what I wanted to share and write about. On April 9 I finally posted my very first blog post, which was about the lastest trends for Spring. It’s so funny to read that blog post now because I remember how much I was struggling with taking photos haha.
Ever since I started Thoughts in Style, I’ve posted a new blog post every single week. That’s something I am very proud of. I admire bloggers that post every day or even a couple times a day… That’s just crazy! I tried to post more a week but in combination with work, that’s not really possible. Quality over quantity, am I right? Besides that, I’ve also gotten to work with so many different brands and companies. Five years ago, I never thought that was even a possibility when I would start blogging.
⊰ Five favorite blog posts ⊱
But what are my favorite blog posts I’ve posted in those five years? Well, there are a lot (over 270 to be exact) but my five favorites are…
… my New York travel diary. As everybody knows, New York is my all time favorite city so of course this is one of my favorite blog posts. I love to look back at this amazing week I spent in New York.
… my blog post about crystals. Last year I got really into crystals and this was a different type of blog post I put up. I didn’t know what people would think, but I got some lovely feedback!
… these two mocktails. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I tried to make some mocktails and these turned out so good!
… the Instagram worthy places in Berlin & Paris. After I visited Paris and Berlin last year, I was very inspired by all of the beautiful photos spots I discovered. That’s when I decided to make a list of all of them and share them on here.
… five things I do to relax & make me feel happy. Last but not least, a very feel good blog post. I still remember writing this just after taking the photos because I was feeling very happy and just loving life.
⊰ How I am going to celebrate ⊱
I don’t want to make a big deal out of it, so I won’t go all out. I think I just want to bake a cute cake this weekend, make one of the mocktails I mention, definitely watch some Netflix, reflect on what I’ve accomplished these last five year with blogging and just C H I L L. The last couple of weeks have been very busy so this will be the perfect way to celebrate five years of blogging.
Lastly I just want to say I am so thankful for the people that read my blog every single week. Yes, you there! Thank you so much for all of the support. I just love to write about all of the things I like and experiment so much with photography. It’s really cool I get to share everything I want with more people through this part of myself on the internet. I am so excited to get to ten years… When did you discover my blog? Do you have a blog of your own and how long have you been blogging?
Love,
Neeltje
Congratulations on 5 years! I find it very impressive that you have posted EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Sure, a lot of blogs may post more often, but staying so consistent is also really important! It allows you to connect with loyal readers, that will keep coming back for more.
I wish you all the best for your 6th year of blogging <3
