Displaying Your Favorite Quote Like This | How To Style: Letter Boards

If you’ve been following Thoughts in Style for some time, then you know that I got really into interior over the past year. I try to post something new in this category every once in awhile, just because I want to share my love for interior design with you. Last year I posted the first one in the “how to style” series and that was all about how I style prints in my interior. In this one I am going to show you how I style a very trendy thing at the moment. The title already gives it away, but I am talking about a letter board. Without further ado, let’s get stylin’ (I thought this would sound funny, so don’t judge haha)! ?

You might have seen me using my lightbox in blog posts before. At the beginning of last year, I began seeing lightboxes everywhere. Literately everywhere. Before that, I already got my own lightbox and since that I enjoyed displaying quotes all over my bedroom. On Pinterest I started not only seeing lightboxes but also these letter boards. I had seen these at Sissy-Boy Daily and other cafes before but not really in someone’s interior. The thing I really like about these letter boards is that they have this vintage type look, which gives something extra to every style of interior (at least, that’s what I think haha).

The letter board I have is from Funkk, which is a company that sells premium felt letter boards. They sell different sizes and mine is the small size. This size is perfect for me because I can just put it on a shelve in my room. With every letter board you get a large selection of letters so you can put any quote you want on the letter board. At the moment I have this botanical theme going on in my room and these two inspirational quotes go perfectly with that.

Now you also have to decide on the place where you are going to put your letter board. Of course it completely depends on what your interior looks like and where you have space to put something. I like to put mine on one of my shelves or on top of a cabinet I have in my bedroom. Since I have a pretty small bedroom, this is where I have room to put a lettter board or other decorative things.

When you’ve decided on a place where you want to put your letter board, it’s time to get styling! The items or things you can use to style a letter board are…

… plants. ? You know that one of my favorite things to have in my bedroom are plants, especially cacti. Lately I’ve also got some other type of plants and it’s starting to look more like an urban jungle everyday. Just pair a couple of small plants or cacti to the place you’ve picked and put these around the letter board.

… prints. Besides that you can also pair the letter board with some other type prints. The more different sized prints you have, the better it will look, especially on top of a cabinet. Make sure the use shorter quotes, because you don’t want it to look like one big chaos.

… treasures. The last decorative items you can use to style the letter board are special treasures. In the photos below you can see I used a small industrial looking ‘N’ and a bottle filled with small stones. These are special items that will look very good in combination with the vintage look of the letter board.

There are some of the things I keep in mind when I am styling a specific item, like a letter board. Everyone that sees the letter board in my room, loves how it looks. I think it is a must have in every type of interior. The great thing is, Funkk has the letter board available in different sizes and also with a black frame. This way you’ll find a letter board that you’ll love as well. Let me know what you would like to see next in this series of blog posts. Maybe a post on how I style flowers for spring or shelves with different trends… Anyway, did you enjoy this interior blog post? Do you also own a letter board like this?

Very nice! Much more subtle, I love the look of lightboxes but this is way nicer I think. I love how you styled it, maybe I can do that as well in my crazy unorganised house somewhere, haha.

Pretty Pictures! I already have a lightbox but a letterboard would be really cool as well!

Ik vind ze super tof! Ik heb echt plaats te weinig in mijn huis voor al die hebbedingetjes 😀
