For The Ultimate City Trip, Visit One Of These Cities | Inspiration: Citytrips

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I just really like the feeling whenever I am exploring a new place. If it was possible, I would be traveling somewhere new every single month. Unfortunately that’s not really realistic but that makes traveling whenever I do a lot more exciting. Since the last couple of years I have traveled to quiet a couple of cities, I wanted to make a small list of my favorite cities, which I would recommend going on a city trip to. Just let the wanderlust take over… ✈️

➸ AMSTERDAM

This first city is very close by for me so I mostly just spend a day there and then go home. But if I wasn’t living in The Netherlands, I would definitely recommend going on a city trip to Amsterdam. Amsterdam is a city that has a lot to offer. Most people only know the centre of Amsterdam and some of the big sights, but it’s a lot more fun to explore the rest of the city as well. Places like De Pijp, The Nine Streets, Jordaan and NSDM are neighborhoods where you’ll find the most lovely hotspots, stores and unique things to photograph, since Amsterdam is very photogenic city. If you’re looking for specific hotspots in Amsterdam to go, you can find lots of posts about things to do or go right here.

TIP! Spend one whole day wandering around The Nine Streets. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner there and also are able to shop at some of the loveliest stores.

➸ PARIS

Most people know Paris by the name “City of Love”. ❤️ Until now I have been to Paris two times, once with my parents on a family trip and once for business with my internship. Both trip were very different but both times I got to see a lot of this beautiful city. Everybody knows The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre and more. Since all of these sights are located all around the city, I wandered around the neighborhoods of the sights and found so many lovely places. Le Marais is one of the places that really feels like you are in authentic Paris that you see in the movies so it’s definitely worth a visit. Even after visiting Paris two times, I still feel like I haven’t seen everything.

TIP! I would recommend getting a card for the metro so you can easily get from one part of the city to another, unless you like to walk a lot of course.

➸ LONDON

London had been on my to-go list for a while and last year I finally got to go. Eline and I spent four full days in London, and we planned to do so much, but I still feel like I haven’t seen everything of London. London is a very large city, so we almost went everywhere by metro. Some of my favorite places and sights are Buckingham Palace, Big Ben Picadilly Circus, Shoreditch, Notting Hill and even more. I feel like this is a city I will visit again and there is a lot more to discover. As you can tell, it’s the perfect city for the ultimate city trip. Check my travel diary from London to see what Eline and I saw, did, eat and more.

TIP! Don’t only go to Oxford Street, go to the streets behind Oxford Street, like Carnaby Street and Kingly Street. This way you can escape the craziness a little and just wander around calmly.

➸ NEW YORK

Last but definitely not least, my absolute favorite city, New York. ? Do I even have to explain why this is the perfect city to go on citytrip to? I don’t think so, but of course I will. Besides the cities I’ve mentioned, I think New York is a city where you can wander around of for years and still find new places, hotspots and more. Of course you should visit some of the big sights, like Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Ground Zero, The High Line, Flat Iron Building and so many more. But I would also recommend going to South Sea Port (which is filled with unique shops), Chelsea (which is near The High Line and you’ll get the ultimate New York feeling here) and Tribeca (I stayed here the first time and it just felt like home for some reason). In total I’ve been two times to New York and both times I’ve left this city feeling so happy, it’ just crazy. That’s something I think everyone should experience once in their lives.

TIP! Since New York is such a busy city filled with tourists, order tickets for visiting the Empire State Building or other sights like that, beforehand online. This is one of the things we did and we didn’t have to wait in line anywhere.

“New York is not a city, it’s a world.”

Since New York inspired me (and still does) so much, I always like to be reminded of that. That’s why I have made my very own phone case with the City Marble option. I chose to put the map of New York City on mine, but you can pick any city you like. So maybe when you’ve been on a city trip to one of these cities, and it has earned a spot on your favorites list, you could be reminded of it all the time with a phone case like this.

There are so much more cities that are great to go on a trip to so I might do another one of these in a little while. But for now, these are my recommendations! Hopefully you like these cities just as much as I do and will like the tips I’ve given if you are planning on visiting one of these cities any time soon. This summer I will be traveling to Edinburgh with Lotte so that’s where you’ll get a travel diary and hotspot posts from. We already have made a pretty long list of sights and shops to visit but if you have any recommendations, I would love to hear. What is your favorite city? Which cities are still on your bucket list?

Love,

Neeltje

Oh my god I totally loved your post ! First because I love the way you’re writing, and also because I’m found of big city trips.
I’ve only been in London and Paris (from you list I mean) and I have the same feeling : it seems that I haven’t seen everything, so I have to come back !
But I really want to visit Amsterdam too, and it’s needless to say that I’m obsessed with going to New York !
