Six (!), yes six months of 2019 have already passed. Eh, excuse me but how did this happen… It still feels like March or something haha. But with it being July, my trip to Vienna is getting closer and closer. I am so excited to go on holiday! My last two months were very busy but also very fun, so that’s why I just have to share a couple of highlights of May & June!

The beginning of May started with a day in Leiden with Lotte, because we wanted to take some photos. Just for Instagram and for my blog. You might have already seen the outfit post we took photos for (if not, check it here). It might not have looked like it, but while we were taking the photos it started to rain haha. So when the rain stopped, we quickly took all of the photos and then went to Barista Café to have a warm drink and a piece of cake.

Nothing is better than a… girls weeeeeekend! Okay, so at the end of last year my friends and I spontaneously decided to finally book another weekend away. Ouwerkerk in Zeeland was our destination and we stayed in a very unique A-house, which we booked through Airbnb*. Throughout the weekend we laughed, talked and explored so much. I think a girls weekend is such a good idea if you want to spend more time together with your friends, because it was so much fun!

The Monday after my girls weekend, I actually took a day off. I didn’t know how tired I would be and it was a nice day to get my energy levels up again. So during the day I didn’t do that much, but in the evening Lotte invited me to attend the program presentation of Leidse Schouwburg. I had never been to a presentation like this, but in the end I enjoyed it very much! There were different types of performances, from dance to a musical and comedy.

At the end of May it got very sunny. So that’s why Eline and I thought it was the perfect time to get into the car and drive to Brasserie Buitenhuis. This is definitely one of my fave hotspots to go at the moment. It feels like a beach club but very laidback and just outside of Leiden! The lunch we had here was so goooood and we talked for a couple of hours because I guess we just had a lot to talk about haha. It was such a lovely, sunny afternoon (as you are definitely able to tell from the photos I took).

Party time! On Sunday June 2nd my sweet sweet grandma turned 80 years old… I still can’t believe it because she doesn’t look like she’s 80 at all. If I get to be 80, I definitely want to be like her. On that Sunday we all got together with my family and her friends to celebrate this milestone. The venue was very nice (with air condition thank god) and of course I had to get my grandma gold “80” balloons and a garland to decoration a little. She had the best time and I loved to see everyone she is always talking about. Now I have a face with the name.

And it was time to take some photos again! And of course on the day that Lotte and I decide to go to Leiden and take photos, the weather wasn’t as good as the days before. So typical. But in the end we did get some lovely photos (outfit post coming soooon) and of course we had to end the afternoon at ROOS, taste & smile. This time we didn’t get a piece of cake but we enjoyed tiny quesadillas. The new menu from ROOS looks so good and I can’t wait to try more dishes.

Ever since I have known Eline, she has been doing theatre. It’s something she loves to do and is also very good at. When I met up with her at the end of May, she talked about the costume she had to wear and make herself. I gave her some suggestions and I was very curious to see what it would look like. So on June 15 I returned to Leidse Schouwburg again and watched Eline’s performance “Damens”. It was so good, funny and the storyline was great! I was so surprised and Eline’s costume looked awesome. YOU DID AMAZING ELINE (hey, I know you’re reading this)!

Work has been so crazy lately. Since my colleagues are on holiday, I have to do some tasks for them but I also have to get ahead of my work for when I leave on holiday. This is pretty hectic but it has been very various and challenging also. Last week I went on a work lunch and we went to the lunch place by boat. So that was a great lunch ‘break’ haha. And on Thursday we had “#DOMIBO”, also known as our Thursday afternoon drink. Most of the time this takes place on a Friday but not everyone works on Friday (like me). As you can see we enjoyed various snacks in the sunshine, which was a nice closing of my work week.
And now I am counting down the days until I get to go on holiday! At first I only took one week off from work but I decided to take two weeks off. I think I deserve a longer break after working so hard the past months. So I am going to enjoy these two weeks a lot. And if you have any recommendations for Vienna (Wien), please share them with me! Lotte and I (well, mostly me) are making a hotspot list of places to visit while we are there. What are your plans for summer? What’s your favorite memory of the past six months?
