Handbags Are A Girls Best Friend | Must Have Bags

Just like diamonds, handbags are definitely a girls best friend. I have been a bag lover for such a long time. When I was younger my dad would say: “But you already have so many bags!” if I bought another one. Oops… Right now I am way more thoughtful about my purchases and have created a pretty complete bag collection. So, I thought I would share my must have bags for different situations and occasions!

Casual bag

Description | What’s a casual bag? I image this specific bag when I think about a casual bag. A casual bag is very versatile, neutral in color and not too big. This camera sized bag from DKNY is the bag I grab when I go out for a quick outing because it fits all my essentials, like phone, keys, wallet and even more.

Summer bag

Description | A summer bag to me is definitely made out of straw and fits a lot of crap. For a beach day you’ll want to take a lot of stuff so a straw bag with a lot of space is perfect. This one from MANGO was very inexpensive, looks like the straw bag from Loewe and has a little pouch in it to keep important stuff a bit more secure. The thing that really sold me on this one is that I am able to wear it crossbody and the combination of straw and brown (fake) leather.

Everyday bag

Description | The specifications for my everyday bag is that it has to be big but not too big, have a crossbody and handheld option and of course a neutral color so it can go with any outfit. This bag from SMAAK Amsterdam (called the Jenna) has a classic look. Since I am (and have always been) a silver jewelry and hardware girl, I wasn’t sure about the hardware on this bag since it is a very ‘in your face’ type of gold hardware. But it started to grow on me and now I actually think it would look weird with silver hardware. It might not look like it, but this bag fits a lot. A book (maybe even two), water bottle and all of my other essentials (even my beauty etui). Sooo, that’s what makes this a great everyday bag for me!

Work bag

Description | No question about having a bag for work. Personal belongings and work stuff all needs space in the bag. For work I alternate between bags. Most of the time I use a pretty big tote bag but the perfect one would be my Kate Spade Margaux bag. This one has three different compartments which makes it easy to keep my personal belongings, keep a laptop, notebook and also just throw random stuff in. I own the medium size, which is lovely but if you have to bring a laptop with you all the time, the larger size would be best.

Trendy bag

Color | Beige and white with gold hardware

Description | When I first saw this bag, I fell in love. It’s so different from all the other bags I own and I was ready for something new. Before getting it, I did tons of research because the Snapshot bag from Marc Jacobs is available in many different sizes, colors and materials. In the end I chose this small, neutral colored one with the thick guitar like strap. The strap does make it a trendy bag, but I am able to put another strap on it. So, I actually got this gold chain strap. This way it’s also a good fit for formal events and I am able to use the chain on my other bags as well. Score!

Right now I have created a pretty complete bag collection. Of course, a wish list is present. A couple of high end designer bags are on there, with the Chanel Classic Flap in the medium size. It’s the dream bag for me. I have already done so much research (like I talked about this blog post) and whenever I have saved enough, I think I will go with a preloved bag from L’Etoile Luxury Vintage for example.
