Okay, the title of this post might sound a little extreme, but it’s so important to always work on yourself. I didn’t realize this until about a year ago… I was kind of trying to find my way after graduating and getting my bachelors degree. I didn’t know what to do and felt like everyone was pushing me to do something. Besides that, I didn’t feel like myself and wanted to change that. So I took more time to work on myself, by myself and in this post you’ll read how I am doing this!
《 Changing what I don’t like 》
While I was still studying I didn’t exercise a lot. I was mainly studying at home, going to the train station by taking a bus, taking the train to school and then walking to and inside my school. Besides that, I didn’t really cycle anymore or work out at all. Let me tell you, that’s not a good thing. In March Elba and I started working out and I feel so much better. It might not be your thing, but you just have to make it your thing. Just do exercises you like. Elba and I discovered that doing a lot of HIIT training is what our bodies need. This way I have changed what I don’t like, and I am not there yet but I have definitely come a long way.
《 Taking risks 》
Sometimes it’s good to just take a risk. Otherwise life gets so boring and not exciting at all. It’s weird because I like being in my comfort zone but if you’ve been in your comfort zone for too long, the need of something new gets bigger. That’s when it’s a good time to try something new and just to take a risk.
《 Keep learning 》
To keep learning is so important for me as a person. Otherwise I would feel bored and not feel like I am getting somewhere in life. I was planning on starting a studies this year, but that didn’t work out so now I will be getting some certificates from Google to help me with my job. Besides learning through a studies, it’s also good to keep learning things about life itself and myself of course. So I am trying new things and also doing more of what I love.
《 Meditate 》
I always thought meditating sounded really dreamy and not something that was for me. Well, ever since Elba and I started doing yin yoga at least once a week, I can’t go without it. Yin yoga is a combination of yoga and meditation. You are in different yoga poses for a longer period of time while keeping focussed on your breathing, which is the meditation part. Our yoga teacher has learnt us to actually be in the moment and not being busy with the past or future. Because those thoughts is what makes people panic and anxious.
《 Be grateful 》
Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in life and not actually realize what you have. That’s when you get a feeling like you’re missing something when you’re actually not missing anything at all. At moments like this meditating really helps me and makes me be grateful for what I have my family and friends, and not let material stuff matter that much, because it really doesn’t. Yeah, it’s nice to have a lot of clothes and other things but it doesn’t really bring you happiness or any satisfaction. So just take a moment to be grateful.
