How have the first two months of 2018 already passed? Throughout January and February I did a couple of things I really wanted to share on here, since this is kind of a diary. 📓 Last year I did these type of posts throughout the different seasons and I love looking back on those. In January and February I celebrated New Years, made some really exciting travel plans, trying something new and more, which you’ll see in this post!

Of course January started with me celebrating New Years! 🍾 Not with a party or anything. It was a very laid back evening before the New Year. My family and I played some games and watched television while we waited for 2018. One of my friends also came over and we played with sparklers a little before people in my street started going crazy with all of the fireworks.

Something I’ve always wanted to do was go ice skating on Museumplein in Amsterdam. At the end of 2017 my friends and I made plans to do that and on Sunday January 7 it was time to go. The weather was actually perfect to go ice skating. It was cold but the sun was shining. As you can tell from the photos, it was pretty busy. But we definitely have enough room to skate around. I hadn’t been ice skating for a couple of years so I really had to get used to it again. I definitely recommend doing this next year, because I will be there (again) as well haha.

New York. Still the very favorite city I’ve ever visited. Since the last time I was there, I had dreamt about going back. Last year it didn’t work out because I had to write my thesis. This year I just started looking for flights and hotels and I found such a good deal! So… On January 18 my mom and I booked a trip to New York in October for a week! ✈️ Besides that, I also booked a trip to Paris in July with Lotte! Last year we went to Edinburgh and this year we are going to explore Paris. As you can imagine, I can’t wait for both trips!

For Isabella’s birthday, we went to see The Greatest Showman in The Hague. 🎬 I had heard so many things about this movie and heard a couple of the songs, and all of this got me very intrigued. Besides that, who would pass an opportunity to look at Zac Efron on a big screen? Well, we definitely wouldn’t. In the end, we both loved the movie. Mostly because of the music, because the story was very predictable but that didn’t make it less fun. Definitely a movie recommendation!

At the moment I am working but I do want to start another studies again. That’s why I’ve started looking at masters I would be interested in. The first Master Day I attend was one from Utrecht University. In the end I didn’t end up liking it as much, so the first one can be crossed of my list. I’ve got some other studies to go to this upcoming month. While we were in Utrecht, my brother and I went to Croquetten Boutique. This is definitely a place I want to go more often, because my croquet was really good!

Since I don’t dance myself anymore, I like to go to performances of the National Ballet in The Netherlands. Lotte was interested in going to a performance as well, so we decided to go to Don Quichot! 💃🏻 I had heard so much about it and I finally got to see it myself.

Since mid-January I’ve been trying to go to the gym at least once or twice a week. At first I didn’t enjoy it at all but if I go really early, I feel so good the rest of the day (that’s my motivation). With that I’ve been trying out the Skin Tight tea from Tastea this past month. This tea is supposed to help with weight loss. The taste is something you have to get used to. It’s not something I’ve tasted before and therefore I liked it best when it was almost cold. ☕️ I have to be honest… I haven’t been eating very well the past month so I don’t if I actually lost weight. I do know that when I drank the tea, I didn’t feel hungry at all. Snacks were definitely off the table. So I want to keep trying the tea in combination with me going to the gym more and see if there’s a possibility of a summer body this year…
So that was the first part of 2018 for me! I can’t wait for a little bit warmer weather and a lot of sunshine. What was your favorite memory from the past month? Do you have anything planned for March?
