Amsterdam. One of my all time favorite cities. When I was studying, I used to go to Amsterdam pretty often. It had been on my list to go again, but I hadn’t made any plans yet. Until… I received an email from Sten and Sammy from MOAK Pancakes. Kindly they invited me and a friend to try their new menu at their new location in Amsterdam. This is an invitation I couldn’t turn down. I have been to MOAK Pancakes before, but then it was still called MOOK Pancakes, so I was very curious about their new menu and new location in Amsterdam City Center!

I had to look up how to get here, but it’s fairly easy when you take a tram or metro to Waterlooplein and then you’re almost there already. When it was still called MOOK Pancakes, that’s when I last visited and this location didn’t even exist. So, of course I looked up some photos on Instagram beforehand and it was better in real life… Look at the flower wall… I have never seen that in any restaurant. We decided to not sit directly underneath the “All eyez on me” sign but near the window. This way we had an overview over MOAK Pancakes and also were able to look downstairs (more about that later in this post).
While entering MOAK Pancakes, we were greeted very nicely and talked a little bit about this location and their menu. I had a brief look at the menu online because I was very curious how much it changed from the last time I visited. It was different and they added a couple vegan options! Lately I’ve been very open and have been trying more vegan dishes at restaurants. So, I had already decided to get vegan pancakes, just not sure which ones. Btw, they have this crazy pancake option on the menu called “The Golddigger”, which is 100 euros (!). Would you like to try this?
After browsing through the menu, Lotte and I made our decisions. Lotte got the The Infamous (with bananas, homemade chocolate sauce, melted peanut butter, strawberries, berries and cinnamon) and I decided to go for The Blueberry Yum Yum (with blueberries on the side and maple syrup). With that Lotte also got a peach smoothie and I (of course) got a water. When we got our pancakes, I was so excited to try them. Sometimes vegan dishes taste very different from ‘normal’, but these pancakes just tasted like ‘normal’ pancakes. So they get a big thumbs up from me! Lotte was also very happy with her choice. And funny thing is, when I went with Eline to MOAK Pancakes (when it was still called MOOK Pancakes) in De Pijp, she got the same thing as Lotte haha.
The city center location of MOAK Pancakes has something special. They have a downstairs with their own merchandise and a Instagrammable place with “Started from the bottom now you’re here”. Just after Lotte and I finished our food, we had a look downstairs. I think it’s really cool they have their own maple syrup and if I had to choose one item from their merchandise I would want, then it would be the pink sweater. As you can see from the photos below, the sweaters have this pretty pink color with just a subtle MOAK logo on it. Of course Lotte and I sat down there for a little and we just had to take some photos on the stairs (which you might have already seen on my Instagram).
I am very grateful I was invited to enjoy the very tasty pancakes from MOAK Pancakes. So another thank you to Sten and Sammy for inviting me and Lotte! Next time I am in Amsterdam and feel like having pancakes, MOAK Pancakes in definitely on top of my list!
