A coat, one very needed clothing item during winter time. I’ve shared this in a previous blog post, but I am very particular when it comes to coats. I don’t know why but when it comes to a coat, I want to be warm, I want it to fit nice and I also want it be comfy. Sounds familiar? Well, that’s why I own a couple of different coats because you almost can’t have all in one. Except when you get to make your very own coat! How you might ask? That’s an easy question for me to answer because my mom is amazing and can make almost everything I have in mind. So, that’s why I want to share an outfit post featuring this coat my mom made for me.
Beige Scarf: Pieces | Light Blue Jeans: Levi’s
Since this outfit post is kind of based around this coat, I thought I would start this blog post of with it. So, here you have it. This is the coat my mom made me. Ever since I can remember my mom has been making clothes. As a little kid I used to wear tons of clothing items made by her. Two years ago we went to a fabric market and I bought this grey fabric. As an example for the coat I showed my mom different coats that were all kind of the same, like an oversized coat. Very simple, but very cute. Based on what I showed her, she made a template and made a coat with that. So, now this fabric I bought is made into a coat! On the day Lotte and I were taking these photos, it was very cold outside (although the sun was shining) and that taught me that this coat is kind of more for in-between weather during spring or fall. But that’s okay. I am sure I will wear it so much upcoming season. Right now I have another coat in mind and the fabric I’ve already bought, so I can’t wait to wear another coat creation made by my mom.
Black Sweater: Levi’s | Crossbody Bag: Marc Jacobs
Other outfit details
Like I said, it was fairly cold on the day Lotte and were taking these photos. My solution? Wear my thick black hoodie sweater underneath this coat. At first I thought it would look stupid because of the hood, but I actually like how it looks and it’s very warm so win win! With that (of course) I am wearing this beige scarf to make this outfit even more cozy.
Surprise surprise. Guess what jeans I am wearing with this outfit? Yes, a pair of Levi’s of course. I am living in these type of jeans because the high waisted ones (Mile High Super Skinny) are so comfy. During winter I opt more for darker colored jeans but on this cold and sunny day, I thought a good light colored pair of jeans would do.
Black Booties: Tommy Jeans
And then there are only two things left to talk about: my booties and bag. When I first got these booties, I thought they were a little bold because it says Tommy Jeans on the back of them (and pretty big as well). But that doesn’t bother me at all exactly. I grab them so much and have been wearing them a ton.
Last but for sure not least, I want to give some attention to the cutest bag there is: my new Snapshot bag from Marc Jacobs. I have never owned a bag as small as this one, so right now it’s a challenge to decide what I get to take with me. But that doesn’t matter to me because look at it. It’s so cute and the strap is so chunky and pretty. It stands out but it’s also neutral since it’s beige in combination with a touch of gold, black and white. A big Y A Y for another addition to my bag collection!
This is a pretty basic and casual outfit. That’s just what I like to wear during winter. With this coat my mom made me I am able to dress casual and also dress an outfit up if I want to. Like I said, I have already bought another fabric to make another coat. I like the fit of this coat but I might go for a more fitted and a bit of a longer coat for the next one… What do you think? And have you ever made your own clothing?
