My Ride Or Die Beauty Items | Essentials: Beauty

Over the years I have learnt how important it is to know what your body needs, also when it comes to beauty items. As a teenager I just used what everybody else would buy or what would look cute. Nowadays most beauty items have really pretty packaging but that’s not what it is about. Everyone’s body and skin is different and needs different things. So, as someone with very sensitive and dry skin, I thought I would share some of my ride or die beauty items. Maybe this way you’ll discover some new brands or products that will work for you as well!

⌇ SKINCARE ⌇

As a teenager you never realize how important skincare actually is. I used to take my good skin for granted. And then there’s this moment when your skin is like: NAH! and your skin starts to act up. Through the years I have learnt that my skin is super sensitive but also very dry. Not a great combination. That’s why I need to moisturize my skin every single day and these next couple of products are an absolute MUST for me to use!

Biodermal Hydraplus: With it getting colder, I notice my skin doesn’t like it very much. I have to keep my skin hydrated all day long. For that I use the Biodermal Hydraplus cream. This is a day cream of a gel consistency, which feels really nice on my skin, especially when it’s dry.

Biodermal P-CL-E: Another light weight face cream I like to use is the Biodermal P-CL-E. This face cream supports the natural healing power of your skin. Whenever I have problem areas on my face, this is my go-to product, especially as a night cream. Overnight the cream has a chance to soak up into the skin and do its job.

Loveli Facewash: One thing that’s really important when it comes to taking care of your skin, is washing your face. Super simple but a lot of people forget about this. When I wash my face, I use this 100% natural facewash from Loveli. It’s a fairly gentle facewash and doesn’t irritate my skin.

Rosebud Salve: Chapped lips are the worst thing. Ugh. So, to make sure I don’t get chapped lips, I religiously use Rosebud Salve. I know, I know. They say lip balm doesn’t do anything to your lips and just dries them out. But I really think Rosebud Salve doesn’t. I don’t use it constantly, just in the morning and maybe once or twice during the day.

Bio Oil: If there’s something that really nourishes the skin, it is Bio Oil. As long as I can remember, I have been using Bio Oil. Bio Oil is perfect for dry skin because it really feeds the skin. But besides that, it also helps with striae, scars and pigmentation spots. So, you are able to use it all over your body, which makes it really a must have product for me.

Rose Quartz Face Roller: And all of a sudden there was the rose quartz or jade face roller. Just like a lot of people I was so skeptical about this hype, until my mom tried it. She was so happy with her jade roller, so I started watching more videos about it and got myself a rose quartz face roller. It’s such a nice way to work my day cream into my skin. And my ultimate tip: put the face roller in the fridge overnight and then use it. It feels amazing on your skin and decreases the puffiness in your face (especially in the morning).

⌇ MAKEUP ⌇

You live and you learn when it comes to makeup. Am I the only one who looks back at photos from a couple of years ago and just laughs at the way I used to do my makeup? Let’s just say, it wasn’t pretty. Besides skincare, I also wanted to take a moment and appreciate a couple of my favorite makeup items I’ve discovered and am using whenever I wear makeup (which is not everyday).

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: As dry as my skin is, as oily my eyelids can be. If I don’t use a primer before applying eyeshadow, it will be smudged in seconds. For eyeliner I just have to use one that’s waterproof. The 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil is my fave because it’s very creamy but doesn’t smudge at all. At the end of the day, my eyeliner will still look the same as when I applied it in the morning.

L’Oréal Paradise Mascara: Mascara is a product that’s different for everyone. Everyone has their personal preference. Since my lashes are naturally pretty thick and straight, so I always have to use a lash curler before applying mascara. I do have a couple of mascaras I like to use, but lately my go-to mascara has been the Paradise one from L’Oréal. It separates my lashes, makes them thick and holds them in a curl all day long.

Just to be clear, I do not know everything about beauty items. I have just experimented so much with different brands and products and these work the best for me right now. It’s always good to switch your skincare and makeup products up every once in awhile because your skin is clever and will get used to the specific product. So, try things out and eventually you’ll find the brands and products that fit the best with you and use the heck out of them. These were just some of mine. When it comes to wearing makeup, on the weekend, I will most likely be barefaced until I am going out. I think it’s so important to let my skin breath, even though I never use foundation. Oh, and when it comes to skincare, it’s not all about the products. It’s so important to hydrate your body. So drink your water! I am so bad at drinking enough water but I am really trying with refilling my Dopper. What is your favorite beauty item at the moment? And do you have an ultimate skincare tip?

Love,

Neeltje
