If you ask me what my favorites cities are, Amsterdam is definitely one of them. And since it’s only half an hour from where I live, I go there whenever I can. So when I had a couple weeks off from school I went to Amsterdam a couple of times with my friends. Once for shopping and once for taking some scenery shots because I want to share some beautiful places Amsterdam has to offer.
When we were in Amsterdam the weather was super weird. At first it was really foggy but later in the afternoon the sun started to shine. Since the weather wasn’t that great at first we decided to warm up with a hot cup of tea in a small cafe at the Spui. This is where there are some really nice cafes so we just picked a random one with a great view of the canals.
And after we warmed up a little bit, we finally went to the Vondelpark. I feel really weird saying this but I hadn’t been to the Vondelpark before. I don’t know, but I just think that’s kind of weird since I go to Amsterdam a lot. Anyways… It is such a beautiful park. It reminded me a lot of Central Park, only smaller.
When you’re in the Vondelpark you see a lot of people running, walking their dogs, people picnicking (if it’s sunny of course) and more. I just really like to sit down and see what people do (creepy much haha).
We also went to the I Amsterdam sign where a lot of tourist get their ultimate touristy photo taken. This is in front of the Rijksmuseum. To visit the Rijksmuseum is still on my bucket list for this year (I am definitely going there with my grandma) but since we didn’t go in, we decided to take a little walk in the garden of the Rijksmuseum. They had these really cute fairy lights in the trees and some really cool sculptures.
When we got back to the centre part of Amsterdam we walked around the canals for a little bit and ended up at the nine streets (de 9 straatjes). In the nine streets are some of the most unique and fun stores and cafes. I think this has to be my favorite part of Amsterdam. Just because you keep walking by the canals (which are beautiful) and can visit such unique stores. I think you could spend a whole day just walking and exploring everything there.
This is not all Amsterdam has to offer, so I’ll definitely write another blog post about some other places soon. Maybe a hotspots of an awesome cafe? Or my favorite spots to shop? Let me know what you would like to see from Amsterdam!
I just love the feeling I get when I am in Amsterdam, it just feels like home or something like that. I would really recommend to visit all of the places I talked about in here and just wander around as long as you can. Have you ever been to Amsterdam? And which of the places I talked about would you like to visit?
