Does anyone remember these lyrics from a High School Musical song? These lyrics kind of describe the end of every year for me. I want to clean out the old (things I leave in 2015) and bring in the new (make room for new things). Throughout every year I learn and experience so many things. Last year I incorporated these things into a blog post and this year I wanted to do this again. Just because my blog has taken up a whole lot of my life, I didn’t only want to share my own highlights & wishes but also from Thoughts in Style. So get yourself ready for the last post of 2015! ?
In 2015 I made so many memories. First off all, I took a lot of trips. In January I got to go to Paris with my internship to visit Maison & Objet. I had never been on a business trip before and I think it was a great experience. After I got back, I got invited to spend the night at CitizenM in Rotterdam. This was so unreal because I had never been invited to something for my blog so that was a great start of the year.
In April I went to Barcelona with my friends. We booked this trip at the beginning of the year and were looking forward to it since. At the beginning of April we finished our internships and went to Barcelona. I had never been there but it’s such a beautiful city. There are lots of hidden spots there and we found some when walking around. I would actually love to go back… But the most memorable trip was definitely when my family and I went to New York and Washington D.C. in summer. I had been to New York in 2013 but of course I wanted to go back. We had such a great time in New York and then took the train to Washington. If there’s one city I would recommend visiting, it’s definitely Washington!
Besides all the amazing trips I took this year, I am also very proud of some achievements. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I finally got my propedeuse! This is something you get when you’ve passed all of your first year exams. One of these exams I had to re-take a couple of times and if I didn’t get it this year, I had to quit my studies. But YAY, because I didn’t have to quit and now I only have 1,5 years to go (how weird!)… Btw when I finished my internship I actually kept working there. The whole entire summer I worked two jobs and that’s something I never thought I would do. So yes, I saved lots of money this year (yay me)!
One of the things I wanted to do more in 2015 was to spend enough time with family and friends. I think I definitely made time to do that and have fun days out with my family and friends. Besides that, I reconnected with old friends and put some friendships on the side. I’ve come to the realization that I don’t want to put time and energy in people that wouldn’t do the same thing. On a lighter note, I turned twenty years old a couple of days ago and it’s so strange but also exciting. I just left the teenage years behind me and have my twenties in front of me (I can’t wait until I can sing “I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling twenty two.” haha).
In this blog post I couldn’t forget about my favorite blogs to read in 2015. I discovered lots of new blogs over the year and these are three of my favorites. Collage Vintage is a blog by Sara and she posts the greatest outfits. When I need some inspiration or want to stay up to date with the latest trends, I go on here. Next is a DIY blog called a pair & a spare. Geneva posts all kind of different DIY’s and since I love to be creative, this is the perfect blog to get inspired. Last but not least for all of my Dutchies and photography lovers out there, check Lauresque. I absolutely love how Laura writes and the photos she takes. Her blog is a true eye catcher.
Of course I don’t only want to look back but also look forward. That’s why I have three wishes for myself and blog to achieve in the twelve months. I don’t want to set standard goals for myself because I know at the end of the year, I will be disappointed. To prevent myself from feeling this way, I made three wishes (instead of goals) that are different and fun. In 2016 I want to…
… think of new series to incorporate in to the blog.
… write more interior inspiration blog posts.
… take new opportunities whenever you can.
Since this blog post is already pretty long, I want to wrap it up. Of course these aren’t all the things I did in 2015. I experienced and did so much more but these are definitely worth sharing with you. Now there’s only one thing left to say: I hope you have a beautiful, healthy and especially happy 2016. Enjoy every second of it and don’t take anything for granted. What was your favorite memory from 2015? Are you ready for 2016?
