Some people think pancakes are only for a Sunday breakfast. I think pancakes are something you can eat all day. That’s what they think at MOOK Pancakes too. ? In Amsterdam are lots of places to eat, but Eline and I were in the neighborhood of this hotspot, so that’s where we went. Because pancakes are always a good idea! I had read a lot (and seen so many photos of it on Instagram) about it and now we got to try it ourselves.
MOOK Pancakes | De Clercqstraat 3, Amsterdam
In 2016 MOOK Pancakes opened their first restaurant. MOOK is actually short for Mokum, which stands for Amsterdam. I read this on their website and I think that’s so funny and unique. Like the name already reveals, you can get pancakes here. A lot of pancakes. On their website it says that all of the fruits and vegetables they use are fresh. Besides that, they use 100% organic wholegrain spelt flour, which not a lot of restaurants do.
From the outside it might look like a small place, but when you enter, you can walk all the way to the back. This is where they have a big open space with lots of room to sit and enjoy a pancake or two. ?
The interior of MOOK Pancakes is very simple, which I like. In the front of the restaurant they have a couple of booths to sit, then some higher tables and in the back are a lot more places to sit. Even though it was pretty busy when we got there, we did have a place to sit. I liked the fact that we could have a look into the kitchen and see how all of the pancakes were made. Maybe this made us a little more hungry, but that was okay haha.
After looking at the menu for some time, Eline got a fresh pressed juice and The Infamous pancakes. These have banana, homemade chocolate sauce, melted peanut butter, strawberries, blueberries and cinnamon on them. I went for some still water and The Blue Magic Deluxe. With these buttermilk pancakes I got banana, strawberry, blueberries, maple syrup and grated coconut. Since I hate banana (with a passion), I got some extra strawberries on my pancakes. ? As you can tell from the photos below, our pancakes looked really good (and they were delicious). You get a stack of pancakes and they fill you up pretty good. Even though the pancakes tasted amazing, I wasn’t able to finish them unfortunately.
When I see the photos above from our pancakes, I get hungry again. They were so good. Oh, and exciting news! MOOK Pancakes opened up a new location. Besides the location we visited, you can also visit them at Jodenbreestraat 144 in Amsterdam. If you are in Amsterdam, looking for a place to eat or just feel like having pancakes, I would definitely recommend MOOK Pancakes.
