Small Interior Changes For The Ultimate Summer Vibes | Interior Inspiration

I am all about that interior inspiration. My Pinterest feed is mostly filled with it and I can’t wait until I have my own home to decor it exactly as I have in mind. Until then I have my bedroom to decorate the way I like. When it’s summer, there are a couple (small) changes I make to the interior to also bring some summer vibes into my bedroom. Curious? I’ll share some simple, quick and cute ways to bring summer into the interior of any room in your home!

⋗ Flowers & plants ⋖

Even when it’s not summer something that can always give a summer feeling are flowers. Yes, flowers. In all colors and sizes, but this summer especially eucalyptus, gyps and roses. Since I keep them just in my bedroom, and let’s be honest, I am not very good at watering my plants, dried flowers are my best friend. Dried flowers are not as old lady like as they used to be. They are pretty, easy to maintain and really give me summer vibes. I mostly keep mine in an old bottle, simple vase or a cute pot.

Then there are plants. Oh my, if I could, I would be keeping a jungle of plants in my bedroom. BUT that’s not really possible, so I created my own little plant jungle and with this Monstera plant, I think it’s almost complete. When my friends ask me what I want for my birthday, I mostly don’t know and just say: “Crystals and plants please!” It’s so much fun to gift someone a plant, especially a Monstera plant. Since it is a bigger plant, it’s much easier to order it through Greetz and it being delivered directly to their home. Add a cute card with a personal note and voilà: the perfect gift!

⋗ Materials & Colors ⋖

Using other materials and colors during summer can also make a big difference in your interior and make it perfect for summer. Take some linen and rattan items. These materials are my fave, not only when it comes to interior pieces but also for clothing. With these materials, there are a couple of colors that will finish the summer style of your interior. My faves are beige, grey, white, light blue and dark green. With the dark green you might think that’s a too heavy and dark color, but together with linen and rattan it will balance it out and won’t look that harsh. Definitely my favorite combination of the moment. I use that in cushions on my bed and prints for wall decor.

⋗ Neutral decor ⋖

I get it. Not everyone wants to make big changes to their interior for summer. So one thing I like to do when the seasons change is add or take away some smaller decor pieces. For example: I have a vase with coins in it. For summer I like to add sea shells to a small vase or glass and display that instead of the vase with coins. Of course you can buy sea shells in a store but it’s much more fun to go to the beach and collect some yourself. It’s free and also a nice summer activity. Oh, and don’t forget about knick knacks you brought back from a holiday. Maybe a post card you can frame or something else as a souvenir.

Besides that, crystals. Oh my. I love crystals (like you can see in this blog post). They are so interesting, all have a specific meaning and look stunning as well. For summer I put my blue and green tinted crystals together so it will look with all of the other decor for summer. This will definitely intensify your summer vibes interior!

I want to hold on to summer just a little bit longer, even though the weather has been not very summer like in The Netherlands at the moment… When I came back from Vienna (where it was around 30°C every single day), I really needed to adjust. So the things I mentioned in this blog post, definitely help me to hold on to summer just a little bit longer. How has your summer been so far? What are your fave summer interior items?

Love,

Neeltje

I love the idea of the sea shells! So simple, and really something that I can see myself incorporating into my home. Sadly the weather in Munich has been grey and rainy, and has me thinking more of autumn than summer, but I do hope the sun returns for a couple more weeks!

I love plants, but am a lousy gardener. So, my home consists of some easy to keep green plants and some fake ones. Good luck with yours.

Ik heb een fijne zomer gehad, behalve de week dat het veertig graden was. Dat vond ik echt te heet.
