While I am writing this blog post, I am looking outside of my bedroom window and everything is white. The snow has completely taken over. It feels like I am in some type of snow storm. I absolutely love to go outside and conquer the cold when it has snowed. That’s when I took the photos featured in this post. Besides that, I wanted to share five things I like to do during the Christmas & winter season. ✰ E N J O Y ✰
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Everywhere you go.”
#1 || Take Christmassy photos
If you aren’t really into photography, this first one might not be the one for you. But hey, it’s always nice to try something new. Anyways, if there is a time a year you can take the prettiest photographs, it is when there’s snow. Last year I made a blog post about winter as well with some snow photographs, which you can see here. Besides that, you can also take tons of photos of your Christmas tree or other decorations. Especially everything with lights is awesome to photograph. Just have fun with it!
#2 || Go ice skating with friends
One of my favorite things to do when it is winter, is ice skating. ⛸️ Maybe it is because I used to do ballet, but I just enjoy doing it. Last year I didn’t get to do it. This year my friends and I actually made plans to go to ICE in Amsterdam, which I am very excited about.
#3 || Change the decor in my room
When the Christmas season rolls around, I just want to get in a festive mood right away. The first I like to do is decorate my room. I don’t go all out in room because I don’t want it to look chaotic. That’s why I just change little bits, like adding a garland with little glitter stars, displaying candles and hanging up some pretty ornaments. You can spent a full day doing this and blasting some Christmas albums or playlists, like this one.
Besides that, of course I love putting up the Christmas tree. ? Most years we just have a small tree but this year we actually have a bigger one! This gets me even more Christmassy.
#4 || Write Christmas cards
Ever since I was a little girl I always used to write Christmas card to everyone in my class. I might sound like an old lady saying this, but since WhatsApp it’s way easier to just send a quick message wishing someone a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. This year I realized I actually like writing cards a lot more. ? Unfortunately I didn’t have time to write and send them… But next year I definitely will! It’s way more personal and I love doodling or just writing little stories.
#5 || Watch Winter & Christmas movies
Lastly, this has to be one of my favorite things. Whenever I can, I go on Netflix and put on a movie or series. I just find it relaxing to listen to something in the background while I am doing other stuff. Mostly in the evening I really sit down and actually just watch a movie or series, just getting cozy in bed with my fairy lights on. This is kind of the perfect thing to do on a cold winter day.
My recommendations: Love Actually || A Christmas Prince || The Crown || Gilmore Girls
These were the five things I recommend to do, which are also some of the favorite things I like to do myself. I adore the photos I’ve featured in this post. They really give me a festive feeling. But too much, isn’t fun. So I understand if people hate is when it’s snowing haha. Anyways, as explained in this post, you are able to do some fun things during this season! What do you love to do during the Christmas & winter season? Which of my five things would you do?
Love,
Neeltje
Ik vind het ook echt geweldig om de kerstsfeer in mijn kamer te halen tijdens de winter. Hallo lampjes, polaroids in de vorm van een kerstboom en geurkaarsen, haha 🙂

I know right! Especially with fairy lights 🙂 X
I love each of these ideas! I love pairing the writing of Christmas cards with the watching of Christmas movies, for some reason I feel a lot more productive when doing this!
Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season!

Thank you! You too 🙂 Xx
I love the act of writing Christmas cards too. I always think that it might brighten up someone’s day if they are a little lonely, or don’t get many cards. I also watched A Christmas Prince last night and it was epic
