From the title you can already tell that I’ve been watching a lot of Friends episodes… Anyways, besides watching Netflix, I’ve also discovered the new Catharinastreeg in Leiden. I knew they were planning to create something new near the Aalmarkt. Since I’ve been working in Haarlem most of the time, I don’t go to Leiden so often. But when Lotte and I were done taking some photographs, we decided to go to Barista Café, located in the Catharinasteeg.
BARISTA CAFÉ | Catharinasteeg 5, Leiden
Barista Café has been open since December 2017. Here you are able to have breakfast, lunch and a snack. Their counter is filled with tasty cakes, like carrot cake and chocolate chip cookies. As you can tell from the name of this hotspot, it’s mainly about coffee. Unfortunately I am not that into coffee but if you are, this is definitely the place to be. They have many different kind of coffees and you can also do a workshop all about coffee with your friends.
When we entered Barista Café, we weren’t expecting it to have three floors, so it is pretty spacious. The interior is very much industrial, which I love. It’s filled with brick walls, plants and cozy places to sit. It really feels like you’re entering a living room. That’s what I really like about Barista Café, because it has a really relaxed atmosphere.
Lotte and I actually went to the top floor of Barista Café and sat down there. On this floor is also a large table where you can sit at if you want to work or study (maybe I will go here to work on Thoughts in Style soon). On their menu are a lot of options for coffee, but also for tea (you can even do an high tea) and food. First we ordered our drinks, while we were still looking at the menu what we wanted to get. Lotte got a white/dark chocolate and I got a fresh mint tea with honey.
After looking at the whole menu, Lotte decided to get the Club Carpaccio and I went for the Sandwich Vega. As you can see in the photos below, our food looks really good. And it tasted good as well! Sometimes it’s hard to find something vegetarian on a menu that I actually like. But this sandwich was really good!
Since I saw so many tasty things on the menu, I am definitely going here again. Besides that, we also got a card so we can save for a free cup of coffee or tea whenever we spend 5 euros. Like I said, I think it’s a good spot to work but I also think I will go here whenever I want to catch up with any of my friends. Have you ever been to Barista Café? What’s your favorite hotspot at the moment?
