These Are The Most Instagram Worthy Places in New York | Inspiration: Photography

New York is a city with tons of photo opportunity. If you are like me, you probably can’t stop taking photos while you’re there. When I was there, I thought it would be a fun idea to share some of the most Instagram worthy places of New York. 📱 I have made a list of my favorite places, but there are so many more. The Instagram worthy places in this post consist of colorful murals, places that give you the best view of the city and unique photogenic places!

⌇ Murals ⌇

If you aren’t familiar with murals, a mural is any piece of artwork painted or applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other permanent surface. As you can probably imagine, New York is filled with colorful murals. These murals make a great Instagram photo and these three are my favorite murals I’ve discovered while I was in New York:

World Trade Center Murals | World Trade Center, New York

Like I said in my New York travel diary, a couple of artists created these sets of murals to brighting up World Trade Center. At first I thought it was kind of weird to have uplifting murals around the 9/11 Memorial, but since it’s still a construction site, it’s getting a bit brighter thanks to the new vibrant murals. The murals are consist of bright colors with uplifting quotes and sayings, like the “Love wall”.

Audrey Hepburn Mural | Mulberry St & Broom St, New York

I had saved some streets where there would be murals. While my mom and I were walking around SoHo and Little Italy, we turned a corner, I had a look into the street and saw the stunning “Audrey Hepburn” mural. This eye-catching mural is created by Tristan Eaton. It really is an eye-catching mural because of the combination of black and white and very bright colors and shapes.

Burn Baby Burn Mural | 173 7th Ave S, New York

The “Burn Baby Burn” mural, made by Baron Von Fancy, is one I discovered through Poppy Deyes, because she took so many photos at this mural and I don’t blame her. While walking back from the West Village to Mid Manhattan, we passed the “Burn Baby Burn” mural. Of course I had a to take a couple of photos here because, I mean, how could you not?

⌇ The best view of the city ⌇

New York is a big and also beautiful city. It has tons of different places where you get a stunning view of the skyline or just of the city. This was hard to narrow down to just four places, but this is where I think you get the best view of the city:

The High Line | Gansevoort St & Washington St, New York

Since The High Line is located above the streets of New York, you get the most unique views of the city while walking along The High Line. Just keeping looking around you when you are walking there because you can see the Empire State Building from different angles and also get a glimpse of the State of Liberty.

Umpire Rock | Central Park, New York

It’s still so insane that there is such a big park in the middle of the city. When we were in Central Park, I knew that there were different places to get a pretty view of the city. One of those was nearby where we were, the Umpire Rock. You can climb on top of this rock, sit down and just take in the view of the city.

The Heights, Arlo NoMad Rooftop | 11 E 31st St, New York

The hotel we stayed in during our time in New York had the most insane rooftop, called The Heights. I knew this beforehand because I had seen so many photos of it and now I was going up there myself! The Arlo NoMad hotel is located in Koreatown, near the Empire State Building, so on The Heights, you have the most beautiful view of the Empire State Building. Oh, and if you are afraid of heights you might now like this, but they also have a glass see-through floor at the rooftop! I was just casually walking above the streets of New York, no big deal or anything…

Top Of The Rock | 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York

If you want the best view of New York, of course you have to on top of the Empire State Building or Top Of The Rock. My favorite view is definitely the one you get from Top Of The Rock, because you actually see the Empire State Building as well! This place gives you the perfect opportunity to take so many photos of the view and discover New York from above, which is a whole different experience. My mom and I went up at 8:00 am and I would recommend going up that early because no one is there and you get to enjoy the amazing view in (almost) silence.

⌇ Photogenic places ⌇

Besides colorful murals and pretty view of the city, there are also a lot of photogenic places in New York. Two places really stood out to me and that’s why I wanted to share them in this post as well:

Pietro Nolita | 174 Elizabeth St, New York

Pink, pink and more pink. If you love the color pink, you should visit Pietro Nolita. Walking past this cafe in SoHo is almost impossible. The outside of Pietro Nolita is painted bright pink and the door besides this cafe is filled with cute love hearts in different shades of pink. I have only seen the outside of Pietro Nolita, but I have seen photos of the inside and there’s even more pink inside. Definitely a good photo opportunity if you ask me.

Dumbo | Washington Street, Brooklyn

After my mom and I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge (which is a must and also gives you a beautiful view of the city), we only had to cross one street and we already found Washington Street. As you can see from my photo, it was really busy here but the view is just amazing. In between the buildings you can perfectly see the Manhattan Bridge. It’s pretty difficult to take a good photos because cars are able to drive through this street and it’s filled with tourists. So I would suggest going there in the morning time, when it’s not as busy.

You might have seen a couple of these photos I took at these places on my Instagram account. I already want to go back to this beautiful city while looking through these photos. So if you are going to New York, you should definitely visit these Instagram worthy places. Besides taking photos here, also put your camera down and just enjoy the moment. That’s also very important. What is your favorite Instagram worthy place in New York? Where would you want to take a photo?

Love,

Neeltje
