This Is What Made Me Happy This Month | Five Things

Sometimes we focus too much on the negative because it overshadows the positive. That’s why I think it’s important to actually spend time and look at all of the beautiful things around us and fun things we got to do. Big or small. It doesn’t matter. I love to look back and write about what I’ve been loving, but this time I wanted to make it a little more personal. So, in this blog post I am sharing five things that made me happy this month. ♡ From a concert to a celebration, a movie and more!

⓵ John Mayer concert

In October my mom and I finally got to see John Mayer. In Amsterdam. Live. And let me tell you, I was so excited! I had been looking forward to this moment for years. A couple of years ago, John Mayer also did a concert in The Netherlands but I didn’t get tickets… So, you can imagine how happy I was when I did get tickets for this concert. Let me start by saying that I went to the concert with no exceptions at all because I didn’t want to be disappointed. I wasn’t disappointed AT ALL. He is so good live. All of the songs were amazing. His guitar work omg. He played freakin’ NEON (my fave song) and Slow Dancing In A Burning Room. WOW. Just wow. I still don’t have any words to describe this concert. It was amazing and that’s why I have been loving to look back at all of the photos and videos I took and experience it all over again.

⓶ Wedding anniversary

On November 3rd it was a special day. It was my parent’s 30th wedding anniversary. It sounds so crazy. 30 years. Omg! So the week before, I started working on a scrapbook filled with photos from when they were younger, the time they met, when they got married, when my little brother and I were born and now. It took me a full day to make the scrapbook, but I was very pleased with the end result and my parent’s loved it as well. With that, I ordered petit fours with my parent’s wedding picture on there. They looked cute and tasted even better, so those were a big hit as well. And of course we went out for dinner with the family to celebrate this milestone!

⓷ Taking a fall stroll

One of the activities I really wanted to do this fall was take a stroll through a forrest somewhere. Super random, but just taking a walk is a great workout and you get to enjoy the scenery at the same time. On a Friday Elba and I decided to go to Katwijk and take a walk in the Panbos. Ever since I was little we used to go here, just play on the playgrounds and look at the animals. Right now we are a little too big for the playground, but the weather was pretty nice (not as cold as it is right now) and we had a lovely lunch in the middle of the forrest. As you can imagine, we talked a lot. It was a very lovely fall afternoon.

⓸  Seeing ‘Last Christmas’

There’s not better way to get into the Christmas spirit by watching a Christmas movie. For Elba’s birthday we went out for dinner and then went to the theatre and saw ‘Last Christmas’. I had only seen the trailer once and hadn’t read anything about it. That was kind of fun because most the time when I know I am going to the theatre, I’ve seen the trailer multiple times and seen things about it on television. But that was not the case with this movie. So, in the end I was really surprised by this movie! The story wasn’t predictable (which is always a plus) and I loved all the George Michael music. Afterwards I felt very Christmassy, so I might have decorated a little in my room for Christmas and blasted a Christmas playlist. Definitely a recommendation!

⓹ Etsy Made Local Market in Leiden

Last Sunday my mom and I cycled to Leiden to go to the Etsy Made Local Market. You might be familiar with Etsy and with the Etsy Made Local Market they give creators the chance to sell their products offline instead of online. I love this concept because sometimes it’s nice to see the product in real life and not only online. At the Etsy Made Local Market I saw this camera lamp and I really really really liked it. So, I might actually buy this through Etsy because it’s such a unique and beautiful lamp.

After reading this, I hope you have a couple of things in mind that made you happy this past month. Maybe it’s a place you visited, an activity you finally did or someone you caught up with. It doesn’t really matter. But looking back, it makes you grateful and appreciative. Some things you might have already kind of forgot, so it’s always nice to look back and think of all the things you did, see or accomplish the past month. So, I would love to know: What’s something that made you happy this month? Or of this year?

Love,

Neeltje
