It’s the last day of 2017… What? Yes, it really is! 🍾 I can’t believe how quick this year passed. Everyday I check my Timehop (this is such a fun app, you should really get it) and get very nostalgic. In my Timehop I can see what I posted from one year to even six years ago. So when a new year starts, I feel like it was 2014 a couple of seconds ago. For this post I wanted to reflect on the great things I did and accompliced this year. Enjoy!
┆ JANUARY ┆ FEBRUARY ┆ MARCH ┆
My 2017 started off with a lot of school things I had to do. First I had to finish my Photography minor. Lotte actually helped me a lot with all of the different themed photos I had to take. One day we had planned to take photos, it was really cold and it had snowed. ☃️ This was perfect for the vibe of photos I wanted to go for and in the end we also got some really pretty nature shots.
Besides that, I also had to think about what I wanted to do for my thesis. In February all of this started and a week beforehand I still didn’t have any idea what was expected of me and what I was going to be doing. Of course this made me very stressed, but in the end it all worked out…
┆ APRIL ┆ MAY ┆ JUNE ┆
In April I celebrated Thoughts in Style’s blog birthday! ✨ It was actually four years ago that I started this blog. How weird! Anyways, when I needed a break, I mostly just got the train and went to any city I felt going to for the day. I went to Amsterdam a lot… Lotte and I actually won a breakfast at Pluk with an Instagram giveaway, so this was a great excuse to go there again.
Summer didn’t start that great for me. I had been working on my thesis for the past months and I really wanted to be done with everything before summer started. Unfortunately that didn’t happen… I was really discouraged, but after thinking about it, I thought it would be better for me if I just made it the way I wanted to (perfectionist right here).
┆ JULY ┆ AUGUST ┆ SEPTEMBER ┆
At the beginning of July Lotte and I went to Edinburgh! ✈️ I was so excited to go there, since it had been on my list for awhile now. Edinburgh is a city I really recommend going to. The people are so lovely, the sights are amazing and I just love the accent. We stayed in a beautiful hotel and were able to walk everywhere. I can’t wait to go somewhere again next summer. Are there any cities you recommend visiting?
Besides traveling to Edinburgh, I also spend a day at Strandfestival Zand with my friends (which was a lot of fun) and handed in my thesis. Handing in my thesis was something I was so nervous about. After waiting for almost four weeks (what felt like four years), I got the call that I could do my final presentation! A week later I did my final presentation and officially heard I was graduated. A very proud moment for me! Oh, and besides that, I also started my first official part-time job. A great way to end summer and start a new adventure.
┆ OCTOBER ┆ NOVEMBER ┆ DECEMBER ┆
When October started, everything got very busy and time went by very quickly. First, I officially received my diploma at my graduation. Second, I started working four days a week instead of three days. Third, I went away for a weekend with my friends. Since we graduated, we don’t get to see each other very often, so we decided to have a girls weekend. Lastly, I did get to enjoy the lovely fall weather. Lotte and I took some photos at one of our favorite places, which you can see here. During the month of December it finally snowed! The first couple of days it snowed, I was really excited about it. I took lots of photos in the snow. But when I had to go to work with the bus and train, it was a little less fun. December is mostly for me about Christmas and my birthday. On December 20, I celebrated my 22nd birthday with my friends and family, which was a lot of fun. 🎂 In this blog post you can see the most beautiful birthday cake I had.
Hopefully you liked reading this post! I think it’s always great to reflect on the year I had and just to be grateful for everything. Even if you don’t have a blog, just write down everything you did during the year that you’re proud of or grateful for. For 2018 I won’t be making any resolutions because I just want to see what 2018 has in store for me. I hope everyone will have a lovely, healthy and beautiful 2018! Let’s make it a good year with lots of new opportunities & adventures. 🥂 Do you have any resolutions for 2018?
