When winter peaks around the corner, I just have to get all of my winter clothes out of the back of my closet. It has been really cold, rainy and windy in The Netherlands, so I just want to wear sweaters all day, every day. But I have found some clothing items, other than sweaters, that are essential to survive winter. And I am mentioning all five of them in this blog post! ⛄️
GREY TEDDY COAT: Boohoo
❄ Teddy Coat ❄
I always thought teddy coats were cute but never really got one. Most of the time I would buy a thick winter coat, use that for a couple of years and buy a new one again. This year I stumbled upon a cute teddy coat and I thought I would try to wear it as a coat for in between fall and winter. Now I can’t go without my teddy coat. It’s very comfy, warm and I am able to wear sweaters underneath as well. Oh, and it’s so soft, which makes it a definite essential for me.
❄ High Neck Shirts ❄
When I was little I always used to have turtle neck sweaters. Lately I’ve been seeing these again. I know they are comfy but I am still not crazy about that. That was until I discovered high neck shirts. These have a classier look I think, especially this one I own with glitters. For winter this is great to pair with a cardigan, for a casual look, or with a blazer, for a classy look.
HIGH NECK GLITTER SHIRT: Ichi | DOT SWEATER: Vero Moda
❄ Balloon Sleeves ❄
Sweater weather is my favorite type of weather. When I was looking for new sweater to wear during winter, I stumbled upon a sweater with these balloon sleeves. Of course I had seen this trend before, but never with a sweater. I thought I wouldn’t like it but when I tried on the sweater, the sleeves made the sweater just a little more special. And no, balloon sleeves aren’t uncomfortable or annoying at all.
DARK GREEN BLOUSE: Guts & Gusto
❄ Dark Green ❄
During winter I mostly wear dark colors. Well, mostly black, grey and white clothing items. I wanted to change that, so I actually started loving some dark green pieces as well. Dark green is still a dark color but it is a color, am I right? Since I don’t want to wear only sweaters during winter, I actually got this dark green blouse, which I wore for my graduation.
❄ Velvet ❄
Since the winter months are also about the festivities that are going on, a little bit of velvet can’t be missed from this essentials list. Velvet clothing items are great to wear during the holidays because the look of velvet just gives that something extra to any outfit. One way I like to add velvet to my outfit is through shoes. For my graduation I actually wore these velvet loafers with a design on them as well. It can’t get any more festive with these loafers, am I right?
Velvet items are very trendy at the moment, that’s why you are able to find everything in different colors as well. For example I own a Cluse watch with a dark blue velvet band. But a velvet top in a bordeaux or dark green color combines different essentials things for winter together, which makes the outfit even more festive. What’s your ultimate winter essential? Do you like mine?
