By now it’s general knowledge that I love to take photos. I don’t always bring my camera with me but lucky for me, the camera on my iPhone 11 is really good. I can just grab my iPhone and take some photos of what I think is photogenic and I want to capture in that specific moment. Fall is my favorite season because the colors are just insane and I take a bunch of photos. I’ve made a little series of autumnal photos that I love and want to share with you!
∶ Plantsoen ∶
A park in the middle of the city. That’s my favorite. It reminds me of New York City and escaping the busy city for just a second. Sometimes I forget there are more places like this in the world, also in Leiden. In Leiden are multiple parks and one that looks the prettiest (at least, I think) during fall season is het Plantsoen. I barely go there and when I was walking around, I realized I have to go there more often. A couple of trees were so beautifully red and lots of leaves on the ground. The leaves crunching sounds so soothing. Almost AMSR like.
∶ Country ∶
Since lockdown/quarantine, I have been walking so much more. I went from hating going on walk to actually loving it. Multiple times a week I meet up with a friend or go on a walk around the neighborhood with my mom. On a cold Friday afternoon Lotte and I decided to go on a walk nearby. A part of the year this piece of land is closed because of the bird breeding season. At this time of year it is open to walk around and it looked really cool with the pampas grass everywhere. I think this spot will look amazing in winter when it has snowed.
∶ Leidse Hout ∶
I was talking about wanting to go to a place where the leaves were changing color and I couldn’t think of one. My mom suggested another park in Leiden, which is a little bigger than het Plantsoen: Leidse Hout. I used to cycle through this park every single day when I was still in high school. So, on a sunny but cold Sunday, I cycled to Leidse Hout and took lots of photos. I loved wandering around and spotting parts of the park that screamed of autumnal vibes. From orange to red leaves and polypore on the trees. I think I got some pretty cool shots if I say so myself.
I actually had a hard time selecting just a few of my favorites. When I thought about creating this blog post, I started to collect autumnal photos in a folder on my phone and the number of photos in there kept growing and growing. And this is where I ended up with! The dream would be walking through Central Park during fall, am I right? I love to follow accounts that post tons of photos from New York, especially during fall. Maybe in a few years that will be reality… What’s your favorite season? Did you also take a lot of autumnal photos?
Love,
Neeltje

Such beautiful photos! They make me want to just put on a coat and go outside – which I might do later today because the sun is shining! The lockdown has made us appreciate natural places close to home more than we used to, I think 🙂
Thank you for sharing these pretty captures! x
