Dear 2020,
Who would’ve thought on January 1, 2020 that this year was going to be like this? Especially not me. I still remember thinking on New Year’s Eve: “I’ve never been more chill about it getting to a new year than now.” That was different for me. Spoiler: I don’t like New Year’s Eve that much. I put so much pressure on myself because it’s a new year and a new year means changes and new things. That’s when it feels like I don’t have everything figured out yet and I get stressed out.
So, when this year turned out like it did, it felt like something out of a movie. But no. It was real life. Because of lockdown, not going out and following the regulations, 2020 went very different than I planned. No more concerts, no more girls nights out, no more traveling… It was hard at the first because it’s not something you go through often. In the end I learnt a lot.
2020 has taught me…
… to be grateful for what I have
… to keep checking in with my friends and family
… to do more with what I already own
… to support local businesses even more
… to speak up for myself and practice self-care
… that I actually love to go on walks.
Onto other important things
Throughout 2020 I kept blogging. This is something I love to do. It’s now been over six years since I started ‘Thoughts in Style’. When I started, I always said I would keep going until I am not into it anymore. Well, in 2020 blogging on here has kind of lost the ‘sparkle’ for me. I love what I have created until now, but I am ready for a change. In true Sagittarius fashion, when something has become too much of a routine, I don’t like it anymore. And that’s what happened with Thoughts in Style.
I want to change things up. So, that’s what I am going to do for 2021. This will be the last blog post on here for a little. No, I am not quitting blogging. I just want something different. What that ‘different’ thing is I am looking for, I am figuring out in the next couple of weeks or months.
Thanks 2020 for giving me new insights and teaching everyone to be grateful and patient. I think we all needed that!
For now, I want to say: Thank you for always reading my blog posts and leaving comments! I appreciate it so much. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Thoughts in Style. I want to wish you a healthy, successful and loving 2021. And remember: I will be back! In the meantime you can keep up with my life on Instagram of course.
Love,
Neeltje
2020 has really taught us so many new things – especially how to be grateful (for me at least)! Here’s to a crazy year haha!
