Neutrals, neutrals and even more neutrals. Yes, that’s what my winter wardrobe consists of these days. The best thing about that, it that everything goes together. I love that, because I don’t want to spend a long time what to wear and something not looking good together. Throughout the years I have eliminated more colors from my closet. Right now you’ll find some dark blue, sage green and burned orange items in there. Don’t get me wrong, I love color but just not when it comes to my clothing and home decor. “But aren’t your looks boring if you most days don’t wear color?” Well, that’s what you would think, but I have discovered that accessories play a big roll in this. And that’s what you’ll see in this simple, neutral winter outfit!

My ‘must’: a bottom-up, cropped cardigan
In winter two things are important to me: be warm and be comfortable. So, during winter I mostly wear thick skinny jeans, a knitted sweater or hoodie and fuzzy socks (of course). When winter started, I kept seeing these type of cardigans and I was very into them. Most of them were pastel colored and I wanted a neutral tint. So, when I spotted this one at H&M (and I knew I had a gift card), I immediately put it in my shopping bag and checked out. For the price you won’t expect quality like this. It’s very thick, soft as well and a little cropped. Because it’s cropped and has these big sleeves, it looks very flattering and not like you’re drowning in it (which I hate). Right now I wear it multiple times a week (yay me for wearing original outfits).

Dress it up with accessories
With a neutral colored outfit, it can sometimes look a little too basic for my liking. So, here’s where the accessories come in. From shoes to jewelry and bags. Last year I developed quite the bag collection. Within this bag collection I have different shapes, sizes and colors. This Marc Jacobs Snapshot bag is definitely one of my favorites. It’s small, has this pretty beige/brown color and I can change the strap if I want to. At the moment I have two thick Marc Jacobs straps and also this gold chain one. Gold. Yes, gold. If you know me, I was always very much against gold. For jewelry I don’t think it looks great with my skin tone but this last year I kind of came back to that. I now wear this gold bracelet every single day and am mixing metals more and more. So, the gold chain for this bag was a very bold move for me but in combination with these neutral type outfits, I love it. It completes this look!

Has this been my beloved winter outfit lately? I would say… yes (it’s almost like I am saying yes to the dress haha). It’s very simple, minimal but still cute and I look put together, even in lockdown. This cardigan I am definitely able to also wear in spring and open the bottoms, wear a top underneath for a different look. So many styling opportunities. Currently I am already thinking about when I am wearing it next hehe. What’s your favorite winter outfit? What do you think of neutrals in combination with gold?
