Give me all the autumnal vibes. As soon as the weather gets chillier in the morning, with some light rain now and then, you just know that the next season has arrived. When asked most people would say their favorite season is summer. I love the transitional period between summer and fall. When it’s just cool enough to start layering clothes and you are still able to be comfortable outside and doing different fall activities. So, this is what my perfect fall day would look like.
∿ AM
Starting the morning with getting up early and looking out the window to see what the weather is like. The weather on a perfect fall day for me would be sunny and chilly at the same time. After I’ve had breakfast and got dressed (of course by layering clothes and putting on a longer coat) I am ready to enjoy the fall day. On a day like this I would for sure go to Monique’s Pumpkin Factory. Fall just isn’t complete so of course I have to pick up some pumpkins. This year I went there with my mom and the next weekend also with Eline. I grabbed some little white pumpkins to display in my room to get into the autumnal mood.
Besides the pumpkins, Monique also has a (next to the pumpkin field) a flower field where you can go and pick flowers. During summer, Eline and I actually went to one in Amsterdam. Even during fall it’s also nice to have some fresh flowers at home, especially when you picked them yourself.
Near the flower field and Monique’s garden filled with pumpkins, my mom and I discovered this second hand store. I rarely go to those, so it was nice to look for gems. Whenever I get my own home, I will most definitely go to second hand stores because I saw old suitcases (perfect for storage), coffee tables (DIY project incoming) and chairs (lovely to mix and match with each other).
∿ PM
To get through the day, food is essential. When I went to Monique’s Pumpkin Factory with Eline, after we went into the centre of Voorhout, nearby Lisse, and sat down at ‘Ons genoegen’ for a quick lunch. The weather was insane, so it was perfect to sit down at their terrace. While talking a lot (like A. LOT.), Eline and I both enjoyed a toasted caprese sandwich. If I would have a late breakfast, I would definitely have a later ‘lunch’ or sit down at a cafe and get a piece of warm apple pie. That’s just the perfect pie for fall (with the apples and a lot of cinnamon).
With fall come the absolutely stunning color changing leaves. When I notice the leaves are changing from green to yellow or even red, I grab my camera, walk around this area and take a ton of photos. I just love that because you can actually see that it is fall and in the end I will have so many fall photos.
Since fall comes with different temperatures, I like to switch my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter clothes and see what I have and what I need for the upcoming season. Layering is key during fall season. Over the years I have invested in lots of timeless pieces but also some trends. Right now I try to only invest in timeless pieces and not cave in when it comes to trends. So, I like to first browse online (and maybe shop the pieces directly) and then go to the store (if possible), try it on and really think about if I need it in my fall/winter wardrobe. Fave fall outfit? A long coat with a thick sweater underneath, a pair of jeans and boots of course!
This post is kind of a combination of different days I experienced over the past month. We are living in strange times and I am very grateful I am still about to do these fun things during fall with my friends and family. We don’t know what the next couple of months will look like, so let’s cherish all the beautiful things we have been able to do during the past months and this fall season. I am sooooo into fall fashion, so get ready for more blog posts about that soon. Do you love fall? What’s a perfect fall day for you?
Love,
Neeltje

Thank you Eli!
Lucky you, this is the perfect autumn activity! I wish I had a pumpkin patch where I live, but it’s not very common in France. Instead I went apple-picking in a farm recently, which was also a lot of fun! Also the apple pie you had at the cafe looks delicious! I really want to bake one at home this week.
Just found your blog and it’s lovely, I am looking forward to reading more posts from you! Take care! 🙂

Thank youu! So sweet of you xx
This looks like such a fun day! I totally agree with you on the fact that this ‘in-between’ season is wonderful. I love being able to layer, without having to dig out my really thick coats yet.
