Yes, it’s finally time for the second part of my photo diary from my trip to Barcelona! In my first photo diary from Barcelona I only showed the photos from the first two days so in this one I will show the last days of the trip. The last three days (actually four days) of Barcelona we went to Parc Güell, Catalunya, Arc del Triomf, Font Màgica and a lot more!
TUESDAY 7 APRIL | DAY THREE
I think Tuesday would be the most productive day we’ve had this whole trip. In the morning we went to Parc Güell, the one park that everyone raves about. We went there a bit early because we hoped it wouldn’t be that busy. But let me tell you, it was very busy. We actually had to wait three hours before we got to go to the Gaudi part of the park. So in the meantime, we decided to just walk around the park a bit and enjoy the lovely view of the city.
At 2:30 PM we could finally enter the Gaudi part of Parc Güell! We were really excited about this because everyone is always very excited about it and on the photos it looks really incredible. But to be honest, I was very surprised when we entered it. It was so small compared to the photos we saw on the Internet. It was really beautiful, only a lot smaller than expected.
The bench with mosaic is really long but not as big on the photos on the Internet. But when you go to the official entrance of the park, Gaudi’s house and the mosaic around there are really pretty and big. Here’s also the big mosaic gecko, which I think looks really cool! I think I’ve never took so many photos in a park before haha.
After walking around Parc Güell for half a day (15000 steps later according to my health app), we decided to go to Sagrada Familia as well! This is also one of the highlights you have to see when you’re in Barcelona. They have been and are still working on it (and I think they will for a long time) and that’s sad but I still think it looks incredible. It’s such a massive building and has lots of detailing on it. I took some really great photos of it and the one under this is definitely my favorite.
And after a very long day we were just randomly walking around and found Font Màgica on Placa Carles de Buïgas. It’s called the ‘magic fountain’ because in the evening it shows this big light show. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see this because it’s only on Fridays and Saturdays. We got there on Sunday and left on Friday afternoon so maybe next time when I am there!
WEDNESDAY 8 APRIL | DAY FOUR
On Wednesday the weather was going to be the best out of all the days, so we decided to go the beach and visit the harbor of Barcelona! When you walk around Barcelona, you also see a lot of people riding a bicycle. So when we were still back home, we decided that when we were going to the beach, we would rent a bike. But when we got to the place where we wanted to rent a bike, we had to pay so much deposit money… So we decided to just walk around instead.
Firstly we ended up at the harbor of Barcelona, called Plaça del Mar. There were so many big yachts! I took so many photos here because it just looked so pretty. There was also a mall just randomly in the harbor and on the top of that building you had such a nice view of the harbor (you could also see a bit of the beach as well).
After that we walked to the beach and let me tell you, it was so pretty! There were so many palm trees (insert palm tree emoticon here) and cute beach cafés. I think we sat on the beach for about an hour and it was a pretty funny experience. A lot of people try to sell you something when you’re sitting there. There are ladies that want to give you a massage and a man who sells mojitos and other drinks. I think the man asked us about twelve times if we wanted something. So there’s a lot of entertainment when you’re sitting there (haha).
We knew that FC Barcelona had a game on Wednesday night so we decided we wanted to have dinner somewhere where we could also watch the game. We ended up in Catalunya at Nello’s Bar. We actually wanted to have tapas but they didn’t show the game there so when we found Nello’s Bar, we decided to eat there.
They had really tasty burgers and they weren’t even expensive, so YEAH! And as you tell from the photo I took there (below), they also have a really nice interior. There were records all over the walls and the lamps were industrial looking, which I really like!
Oh and btw, FC Barcelona won! So when we got back to our apartment, which was next to Camp Nou, it was so busy in the metro station. People were waiting in a very long line to get to the metro station, which was pretty funny to see from our balcony.
THURSDAY 9 APRIL | DAY FIVE
Thursday was our last full day in Barcelona (insert sad emoticon here), so this day we were going to buy some souvenirs and see the last things we wanted to see before we left. So in the morning we first went to Arc del Triomf. I’ve already seen the one in Paris two times and that one is pretty but I think I like the one in Barcelona better… This one had so much more detailing and it looks beautiful with all the palm trees around!
Near the Arc del Triomf is a park called Parc de la Cuitadella. On the map we saw that it was really big and had a really big fountain in there, so we decided to check it out. And wow, the fountain was so beautiful! It’s called Font de la Cascada and I think everyone should go and see this one. It’s so impressive to see, it’s just beautiful.
And as you can see, there was also a mammoth in this park. On the photo I took it looks small but in real life it’s really big! In the park was also a pond where you could rent a little boat so you could row around the pond.
After that we decided to go to the Ramblas again and buy some of our last souvenirs. I bought some clothing items at Double Agent and another store, which I will tell you about in a later blog post. The shirt I bought there is so unique and the print on there has something to do with photography… Could it be more made for me?
On Friday we would fly home again… This day we didn’t do anything special because our flight would leave at 2:50 PM. So we checked out of our apartment in the morning and after that we got the bus and went to the airport. We had to wait a long time because our flight got delayed. But in the end we got home safely and right now we’re still missing the beautiful Barcelona…
I hope you liked my photo diaries from Barcelona as much as I did! Maybe I will make these photo diaries again when I am in New York and Washington this summer. Let me know if you would like to see that as well! Have you been to Barcelona before? What was your favorite sight we saw in Barcelona?
Love,
Neeltje

Mooie foto’s! Ik was van plan om Barcelona en Madrid te doen volgende maand maar heb uiteindelijk alleen voor Madrid gekozen vanwege het prijskaartje. Hopelijk kom ik er snel.
