This Is My Summer Through My Instagram Feed & What’s Next? | Neeltje’s Thoughts: Summer

Is it just me or did this summer break go by so fast… I feel like everyone always says this, but it’s already the end of September. How weird. In a previous blog post I already talked about the fact that my summer mostly consisted of me finishing my thesis. Well, besides that, I also did some other fun things and I want to share these with photos I posted on my Instagram account (btw, if you don’t follow me, click here because you don’t want to miss all of the photos I post on there). At the end of this post, I also give you an update on what’s next for me… Enjoy!

Just at the beginning of summer I went on a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland with Lotte. You might have already seen my Travel Diary where I shared a lot more about my trip. Before Lotte and I went to Edinburgh, we really didn’t know what to expect. But when we finally got there and wandered around for a bit, we absolutely fell in love the city. Some of my favorite places to go were the Edinburgh Castle (because of the amazing view), Royal Botanic Garden (which was so beautiful) and Victoria Street (which reminded me so much of London and the shops were lovely there).

Since my friends and I also wanted to see each other during summer break, we got tickets to go to Strandfestival Zand a while ago. The last time I went to a festival was such a long time ago, but I do really enjoy them. At Strandfestival Zand only Dutch artists perform, such as Racoon, Kensington and Chef’Special. I don’t listen to Dutch artists very often but I do like their music. We had a lovely time catching up with each other and enjoyed the day of course. ☀️

After handing in my thesis, I was so happy to finally be able to go to Leiden. I live near Leiden but I never go into the city anymore because I spent most of my time in The Hague. Lotte and I decided to go to Leiden to just photograph some shops I wanted to mention on my blog (check that post here). Besides that, we went to see the Openlucht Museum De Lakenhal near the Pieterskerk, which was there for a limited amount of time, and had lunch at Aan de Rijn. ?

A little over a week later, Eline and I went to Amsterdam. As a birthday gift Eline gave me a day and lunch in Amsterdam. First we walked around The Nine Streets, which has some lovely shops in them. We walked so much that day but we didn’t mind at all. After all that walking, we ended up at MOOK Pancakes for lunch. You’ll see a blog post about this hotspot very soon because we enjoyed our pancakes very much. And just like every trip to Amsterdam, we went to Van Ness Cupcakes to take some cupcakes to go. All in all, we had a lovely day in the beautiful city of Amsterdam!

WHAT’S NEXT?

Last week I finally heard that my thesis was okay and now the only thing left to do is the thesis defense presentation. When I finish the defense presentation, I will officially know if I am graduated. When I think about it, four years have passed by so quickly. That’s why I want share what’s next for me. The next couple of months I will be…

… working at Home@Home as a content managing assistant. In the second year of my studies, I already did an internship at Home@Home. When I knew I had to do research for my thesis, I got in contact with Home@Home again and got to do research on behalf of them. For the next six months I will be working there, mainly creating content for Facebook and Instagram but also doing other things that have to do with communications and marketing, which I am very excited about.

… looking for a masters or course to follow. When I started the last year of my studies, I knew I didn’t want to start working fulltime after I finished. I like to learn and keep developing my knowledge. That’s why I do want to look for a masters or course to follow. So that’s something I will be looking into and I can’t wait to find something that suits what I think I want to do.

… working more on my blog. Recently I received a guide from Viking with tips on how to make a business from your blog. I’ve been interested in doing and getting more out of my blog for awhile now so this guide is definitely going to help me with that. First I will be working on a new lay-out and I also want to add some other stuff to my blog. I can’t wait to start working on it and show it to you! ?

So, this was kind of a long personal post but that’s what I have my blog for, am I right? As you can tell, my life is kind of changing at the moment. It’s scary but I also can’t wait. I do have some plans but you never know what the future will bring. What did you do this summer? Are you studying or working at the moment?

Love,

Neeltje
